LUCHTMACHT KRIJG 306 SQUADRON WEER TERUG

LEEUWARDEN - De luchtmacht krijgt weer een onderdeel terug. 306 Squadron wordt vrijdag officieel opnieuw opgericht op vliegbasis Leeuwarden. Dat gebeurt door de overdracht van het squadronvaandel aan de commandant van de basis.

Onder dit squadron gaan de vier onbemande vliegtuigen (MQ-9 Reaper drones) vallen die in 2020 komen.

Defensie is al enige tijd bezig met de heroprichting van het squadron. Beeldanalisten en inlichtingenspecialisten van de eenheid in oprichting leveren al sinds eind 2016 een bijdrage aan de strijd van de internationale coalitie tegen terreurgroep IS in het Midden-Oosten.

306 Squadron werd oorspronkelijk in 1953 op vliegbasis Volkel opgericht als fotoverkenningseenheid. Het was in de jaren negentig onder meer actief tijdens de oorlog in voormalig Joegoslavië. Later was de eenheid belast met opleiding van piloten. Het squadron werd in 2010 gedeactiveerd.

306 Squadron (Royal Netherlands Air Force) and NL EASP AIR signed Collaboration Agreement

Early September 2018, the 306 Squadron (Royal Netherlands Air Force) and NL EASP AIR signed the first Collaboration Agreement for Internships onboard of the NL EASP AIR Dornier DO328's that are deployed in Maritime Surveillance and ISR missions. The internships are meant for Sensor Operators of the new MQ-9 Reaper system and offer additional training possibilities in the field of navigation and operation of surveillance sensors and systems.

Pieter Voeten (Director of Operations NL EASP AIR): "I see a clear win-win situation for everyone involved. In essence, there are significant similarities in types of systems and operations. In remote and autonomous operations we are confronted with the same kind of challenges in the area of C2, Flight Watch and data transmission". The Commander 306 Lt-Kol Boudewijn Roddenhof adds "This collaboration gives us the opportunity to look into the technical and operational kitchen of civil operators. They are working with other types of sensors and other operational concepts. Not only can we share knowledge and experience; it also provides our Sensor Operators a hands on experience while we await our MQ-9 Reapers". The Collaboration is implemented with immediate effect.

Ik had nog nooit van NL EASP AIR gehoord maar zo zie je maar weer dat we meer in huis hebben dan we soms denken.

Volgend jaar wordt de eerste MQ-9 al afgeleverd.  Men verwacht initieel operationeel te zijn in 2020 en volledig operationeel in 2022.

Zal nog een een aardige leercurve voor ons worden.

In hoeverre kan dit toestel nu wel/niet in civiel luchtruim en boven bewoond gebied worden ingezet?

Dat was/ is voor mij ook een vraag !  Daarom gingen de Britten ook voor de gecertificeerde MQ-9, door hun eerst genoemd de "Protector" en later de "SkyGuardian"

Ik mag er toch vanuit gaan dat onze aangekochte toestellen ook boven Europa mogen vliegen !

The multi-mission Predator B has up to 26 hours of flight endurance and carries HD-video sensors (optical and IR), ground-imaging/MTI/maritime radar, and other surveillance sensors.
The aircraft features an extensive payload capacity (386 kg internally, 1361 kg externally), with a maximum altitude of 45,000 feet/13700 meters.

Jammer dat er zoveel subversies zijn.

Dat hou je toch, de VS heeft zelfs verschillende versies binnen de block 5 configuratie. Een belangrijk verschil op gebied van optics is dus dat de block 5 HD beelden kan sturen belangrijk voor onze ISR behoefte. De video hieronder legt uit wat de verschillen zijn tussen block 1 en block 5, de stem is niet prettig om naar te luisteren maar het is wel duidelijk.

The Netherlands ordered four MQ-9 Block 5 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the United States on 17 July during the Farnborough Airshow.
The government-to-government agreement was signed by Vice Admiral Jan de Waard, director of the Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation, and Lieutenant General Charles Hooper, director of the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency. A separate industrial participation agreement was signed by Jan Christiaan Dicke, commissioner for Military Production of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, and Linden Blue, CEO of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc (GA-ASI). Schijnbaar dus de MQ-9 block 5, een versie o.a. ontwikkeld voor het dragen van extra lading (bewapening) en dus niet de MQ-9B ontwikkeld voor Europese klanten.

Er is nul capaciteit om nu al veel meer reapers te gaan aanschaffen.
Je moet ergens beginnen, voor NL is dit een prima opstap.

Bovendien voegen de MQ-9's wel zeker wat toe en de mannen en vrouwen die bij 306 werken zijn er zeker weten wel druk mee. Er wordt ook niet voor niets uitgebreid Zander.
