Nieuwe ontwikkelingen op BOXER gebied

Kan cockerill gewoon eens ophouden met dat gepush van hun oude voorraad 105mm lopen.

Ik zie de afgelopen 15 jaar door dat bedrijf exact hetzelfde product telkens maar als 'nieuw concept' gepresenteerd worden.

Totaal achterhaald. Omsmelten die bende. Destijds hebben ze gewed op het verkeerde paard. Er is geen enkele reden om 105mm aan te schaffen.. geen enkele. Waste of recources.

Ik vermoed dat er interesse is in het 105 mm vanuit Litouwen, het land beschikt namelijk niet over tanks of wat dan ook. Het zwaarste wapen wat ze hebben tegen tanks is de SPIKE en ik verwacht dat dit gezien word als aanvulling op de Boxer met 30 mm + ATGM's.

Hoe kansloos wij het ook achten zien ze er daar misschien wel iets in (een relatief goedkoop, relatief zwaar wapen systeem), ik weet 1 ding wel zeker : Als er een Boxer 120 mm variant bestond en operationeel was bij Duitsland en/of Nederland of in ontwikkeling bij de Britten dan hadden ze die gekozen i.p.v. de 105 mm.

Ik weet niet of deze impressie hier al eens gepost is maar ik kwam dit tegen:

John Cockerill unveils new 105mm fire support vehicle based on Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle   ( wat extra info )



Belgian company John Cockerill unveils the latest version of wheeled fire support vehicle based on a Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle fitted with a Cockerill Defense 3000 series turret armed with one 105mm NATO-standard tank gun.

The Boxer is one of the most modern 8x8 armored vehicles available in the current military market. The vehicle was developed and designed by the ARTEC GmbH (armored vehicle technology) industrial group, and the program is being managed by OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation). Artec group includes German companies e Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH and Rheinmetall Military Vehicles GmbH and Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V. for the Netherlands.

The Boxer is a multirole armored vehicle designed to be configured in different roles and missions. The vehicle includes two main parts including the platform module and the removable mission module. The platform module includes the driver position, the engine and the driveline. The unique feature of the Boxer is its ability to change rapidly the mission module mounted at the rear of the platform module to meet different operational requirements. Mission modules are attached by four points and can be swapped within an hour under field conditions.

Thanks to its modular design, the Boxer can be fitted with different types of weapon systems including manned and unmanned turret armed with medium caliber weapons up to 40mm caliber that can be used as an IFV Infantry Fighting Vehicle or with large-caliber cannon up to 120mm caliber to provide a fire support vehicle.

The concept of wheeled fire support vehicle was launched by the Italian companies IVECO-Oto Melara with the Centauro using an 8x8 chassis which fitted with a turret armed with one 105 mm or 120mm cannon. This type of vehicle offers the firepower of a main battle tank and the mobility of a wheeled armored vehicle. With a total combat weight of 50% less than a main battle tank, it can be easily deployed and transported by military transport aircraft.

With its 3000 Series weapon station, the Belgian company Joghn Cockerill has developed a new concept of combat turret that can be armed with automatic 25 mm, 30 mm, 30/40 mm, 35 mm and 50 mm caliber guns, along with direct fire guns of 90 and 105 mm, which are also able to fire anti-tank missiles. The turret can be also easily integrated into current or future tracked or wheeled armored vehicles.

The "standard" form of the Cockerill 3000 Series provides full digital weapon stabilization and a digitalized fire control system to deliver a very high target-hit chance. The turret also boasts thermal and day sights to provide 24-hour operation weather the vehicle is moving or static. The Cockerill 3000 Series can be protected with ballistic protection up to STANAG Level 5 against the firing of 25mm automatic cannon using APDS-T Armor-Piercing Discarding Sabot with Tracer (M791) or TLB 073.

Boxer armored vehicle unveiled with KMW Leguan bridging system



A new version of the Boxer MRAV Multi-Role Armored Vehicle has been unveiled: a bridgelayer. It incorporates the same Leguan mechanism as the one developed by KMW (Krauss Maffei Wegmann) and used on Leopard tanks and other AFVs.

The Leguan system is based on an MLC 80 bridge with a 14-meter span. It can also carry a 22-meter bridge. The time to lay the bridge is inferior to 5 minutes.

The Leguan system replaced the Biber. The bridge layer was initially designed to lay one 26m length bridge, and was upgraded in 2009 to lay two 14m bridges. The Leguan bridge layer, now fitted on Leopard 2 chassis, is deployed globally by more than 14 armed forces : the Leguan bridge layer was installed on tracked vehicles, such as M1A1/A2 tanks and the Wolverine Heavy Assault Bridge (HAB) of the US Army. The Leopard 1 AVLB tanks of the Norwegian, Belgian, Chilean and Greek Armed Forces were mounted with the Leguan bridge layer. The Leopard 2 of the Finnish Armed Forces, M60/M47 tanks of Spanish Army and PT91/T72 tanks of Malaysia were also installed with the Leguan bridge layer.

Ja als eekhoorn kom ik ook niet graag een kat tegen. Ik snap niet echt wat je nu wilt zeggen.

Je hebt inprincipe hetzelfde materieel, maar de ene heeft een "bite" en de andere niet. Ja weet dit is het principe van wapenwedloop, maar voorkom het maar eens.

Bovenaf laat goed zien dat dit nooit als een AIFV is bedoelt maar transport en mobiel systeem. Een enorme neus die eerst de hoek om moet.

Lithuanian Army Vilkas (Boxer) IFV in Action • Demonstration

Infantry Fighting Vehicles "Vilkas" have been made by a German manufacturer ARTEC, according to the requirements of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The vehicles have Israel-made turrets, 30 mm MK-44S cannons and "Spike LR" anti-tank missiles, other specialised equipment and electronic systems.
