Russia could buy 1,000 light wheeled armoured vehicles VBL from the French Company Panhard for the Ministry Interior troops and to obtain adapted technologies, declared to RIA Novosti a spokesperson of the French manufacturer Panhard.
“The Russians want to buy a few hundreds of VBL MK-2 to equip their frontier guards and we are on advanced discussion”, indicated the interlocutor during an interview at the International defence exhibition IDEX 2011 which is currently held in Abu Dhabi.
According to him, the value of the contract relates to nearly 500 million euros.
“We also made a proposal with our Russian partners for a joint manufacture of these vehicles in Russia, in the shape of a technology transfer or facilities production. We remain open to such a co-operation”, it added.
