'N-Korea bereidt atoomtest voor'
Toegevoegd: zondag 8 apr 2012, 15:26

Interception of Satellite Would Be Regarded as Act of War: CPRK Spokesman

Friday, 06 April 2012 18:07

Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) issued the following statement on Thursday:

The south Korean puppet forces recently bluffed that they would "intercept" the DPRK satellite Kwangmyongsong-3, disclosing their attempt to make a fresh military provocation.

The group of traitors aligned with the U.S. is saying that it would track the orbit of the DPRK's satellite projectile with the mobilization of war hardware including various monitoring machines, missiles and Aegis destroyer, and intercept the satellite in case its debris fall out.

The U.S. is now busy making the emergency transfer of an ultra-modern maritime radar base "SBX-1" from Hawaii for the purpose of tracking and monitoring satellite and backing its interception. Meanwhile, Japan is making reckless remarks that it would intercept the DPRK satellite if its propeller body drops on Japan's archipelago.

The puppet military warmongers worked out the "plan for mounting strike on corresponding targets" while talking about "assault" and "possibility of provocation" from someone. They did not hesitate to let loose a spate of such balderdash as "striking Pyongyang".

The military warmongers including Kim Kwan Jin, puppet minister of Defence, openly blustered that they would attack Pyongyang if Seoul is attacked, claiming that now it has become possible to independently "punish" in line with the "right to self-defence". They used to say in the past they could not but restrain themselves in the face of attack by the north due to the belligerence regulations of the Armistice Agreement and the relations with the "UN Command".

The reckless racket for provocation kicked up by the puppet group of traitors is a dangerous act of causing an all-out war as it is a last-ditch effort of persecution maniacs.

The DPRK's peaceful satellite Kwangmyongsong-3 is for the development of science and technology, whose legitimacy and transparency will be fully ensured in the whole course of its launch. The world already knows about this.

Several decades have passed since mankind launched the first satellite and thousands of satellites were put into outer space ever since. But there was no one who stoked confrontation recklessly trying to intercept the satellite for peaceful purposes.

A saying goes "only stick is seen by crazy dog". Those obsessed by the idea of escalating confrontation with the DPRK and hostility towards it seem to regard the DPRK satellite as a nuclear war-head.

To intercept the satellite for peaceful purposes is just an act of war and it is bound to entail tremendous catastrophe.

What matters is whether the provocateurs are concerned about the consequences.

Their call for "strike at Pyongyang" is just hysteria of the puppet war-like forces.

Nobody should dare encroach upon the sky above Pyongyang, sacred capital of the DPRK, and they are gravely mistaken if they think they can survive after attacking Pyongyang.

It would mean the miserable end of the puppet group and end of everything in south Korea.

Nevertheless, the puppet group is kicking off the racket of military provocation under the pretext of "interception" and "strike", asserting that it would not rule out a war and going in league with its master. This is nothing but a ridiculous bid to hamstring the DPRK satellite launch at any cost and comfort its clan in fear of the powerful retaliatory strike by the DPRK.

Lurking behind this is the ulterior intention of the puppet group to justify the confrontation and war moves through the aggravation of the situation, intensify the anti-DPRK smear campaign, calm down the discontented south Koreans, divert elsewhere the public opinion and thus tide over the ruling crisis and create a favorable atmosphere for the "general election".

The reality more vividly shows that south Koreans can neither lead a happy life even a single day nor escape from the danger of a war as long as such confrontation maniacs as Lee Myung Bak group are allowed to exist in south Korea.

The group of traitors should be well aware of what the "interception" and "strike at Pyongyang" would mean.

The army and people of the DPRK will never pardon the enemies' attempt of reckless military provocations.

Whoever intrudes into the territorial air and seas even an inch under any pretext and intercepts the DPRK satellite or collects its debris will meet immediate, resolute and merciless punishment by the DPRK.

The DPRK will mete out the unimaginable and the most miserable punishment to its rival if it dares fire into the sky above the DPRK, Pyongyang, in particular.

The cause of war must be rooted out without mercy.

The group of traitors had better bear in mind the grave consequences to be entailed by its reckless provocations.

S Korea hunts for North's missing subs

By North Asia correspondent Mark Willacy

Updated April 06, 2012 01:21:00
South Korea is reportedly searching for four North Korean submarines that disappeared after leaving their bases on the tense peninsula.

A military source quoted in a South Korean newspaper says up to four North Korean submarines slipped out of port in recent days and have so far avoided detection.

The source was also quoted as saying that Pyongyang has stepped up submarine infiltration drills as the weather has warmed.

Seoul is now on alert for a possible strike against a South Korean naval ship.

The South accuses the North of using a midget submarine to sink the corvette the Cheonan two years ago, which left 46 South Korean sailors dead.

North Korea to unveil missile capable of hitting United States

Published: Wednesday, Apr 4, 2012, 9:30 IST
By Julian Ryall | Place: TOKYO | Agency: The Daily Telegraph

North Korea is preparing to unveil a long-range missile that is capable of striking targets in the United States.

Reconnaissance satellites have identified the huge missile at a government research and development facility in Pyongyang, South Korean government sources told the newspaper Chosun Ilbo. Analysts estimate the weapon to be 130ft long and equipped with a more powerful booster unit, capable of delivering a warhead more than 6,200 miles.

Pyongyang had already raised tensions with the announcement of its plan to launch a rocket this month to put a satellite into orbit.

Washington, Seoul and Tokyo believe the launch is actually a covert test of a missile. Intelligence suggests that this rocket, which is being prepared for launch at the new Tongchang-ri aerospace facility in the far north-west, is 105ft long, identical in length to the Taepodong-2 missile fired in April 2009.

With a range of 4,163 miles, the Taepodong-2 was the most potent missile in the North Korean armoury.

South Korean and US officials believe Pyongyang wants to show off the new bigger missile at a military parade on April 15 to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kim Il-sung, the founder of the nation, or on April 25, which marks the founding of the North Korean army.

Official sources said they were unable to determine whether the weapon was functional or "a life-size mock-up".

Tokyo is taking seriously the threat posed by the planned rocket launch, between April 12 and 16. It is sending 450 troops to the southern island of Ishigaki to man interceptor missiles.

The Japanese government has stated that it will shoot down the rocket if it threatens Japanese territory.

Tokyo is deploying state-of-the-art Aegis warships in the East China Sea to monitor the launch.

F-15s to be sent to guard Aegis ships

The Yomiuri Shimbun

The Defense Ministry has decided to send F-15 fighters to guard Aegis destroyers to be deployed in preparation for the scheduled launch of a North Korean missile, government sources have said.

The ministry is expected to deploy the state-of-the-art Aegis ships to the East China Sea and two other locations to monitor the launch.

The F-15s are necessary as Russian or Chinese intelligence-gathering aircraft may come extremely close to the Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels, the sources said Thursday.

The F-15s will be deployed under a provision prescribed in the Self-Defense Forces Law's Article 95, the sources said. The provision stipulates that the SDF can use weapons, aircraft and other equipment to defend their planes, ships and other equipment.

This will be the first application of the provision.

The ministry will deploy three Aegis destroyers--two in the East China Sea and one in the Sea of Japan--to prepare for the launch.

When an Aegis destroyer detects and tracks a missile, it has to concentrate its radar systems on the missile. This will severely limit the crews' awareness of the surrounding area and make the ship largely defenseless.

The ministry will deploy the F-15s from bases including the Naha Air Base of the Air Self-Defense Force, according to the sources. Two F-15s per destroyer will be continuously deployed to patrol air space around the ship, they said.

When jets or intelligence-gathering aircraft of other nations approach within about 36 kilometers of an Aegis ship, the SDF issues a warning to the aircraft to prevent further approach via international radio or other means.

Defense analysts say the ministry is even studying the possibility of allowing the F-15s to fire warning shots if foreign aircraft ignore warnings and continue to approach the ships.

Japan warship leaves base before DPRK rocket launch

Updated: 2012-03-31 16:13

TOKYO - Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force's Aegis ship Kirishima on Saturday morning left its Yokosuka base for the East China Sea before a rocket launch by the Domestic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), according to local media reports.

Kirishima was carrying sea-based interceptor missiles and will be deployed on the sea with two other Aegis ships, which together are ready to destroy the rocket in outer space if it begins falling into Japanese territory, said local media.

Meanwhile, the ground-based Patriot Advanced Capability-3 interceptors will also be deployed on Miyako Island, Okinawa Prefecture.

The DPRK announced earlier it would launch an "earth observation" satellite, or the Kwangmyongsong-3, using a long- range rocket to mark the 100th birthday of late leader Kim Il-sung. The satellite is scheduled to be launched from a station in North Phyongan province between April 12 and 16.

N.Korea Test-Fires Short-Range Missiles

North Korea apparently test-fired two KN-01 short-range surface-to-ship missiles on its west coast on Thursday. The KN-01 has a range of around 120 km.

A government source here said, "North Korea test-fired what is believed to be two KN-01 surface-to-ship missiles on its west coast in North Pyongan Province." The KN-01 is an upgraded version of China's Silkworm missile, which has a maximum range of around 95 km, and was developed in the late 1990s. It is designed to attack U.S. landing vessels and aircraft carrier groups if they attempt to land on North Korean territory.

A military source here said it seems that the North was testing the capacity of the KN-01 and that the test launch is not related to the regime's upcoming rocket launch. But military officers believe North Korea test-fired the KN-01 as a warning to the South Korean and U.S. military, which have deployed more ships in the West Sea recently.

When North Korea conducted its nuclear test on May 25, 2009, the North also fired two KN-01 missiles near Hamhung, South Hamgyong Province. In January this year, it fired three KN-02 surface-to-surface missiles along the east coast and two more short-range missiles toward the East Sea on Dec. 19 last year, when it announced the death of former leader Kim Jong-il.

Noord-Korea houdt vast aan raket

EPA Toegevoegd: zondag 18 mrt 2012, 08:44

EPA Toegevoegd: vrijdag 16 mrt 2012, 18:31
