Beetje laat hoor. Denk niet dat de Brazilianen gaan wachten tot 2025.

Ik verwacht nog genoeg export orders voor de  KC-390 en niet ieder land wil afhankelijk zijn met defensiemateriaal dat uit de VS of Europa afkomstig is.

Zo en zo al een reden om in de toekomst te kijken naar de KC-390 als de opvolger van de 4 C130´s men weet dan dat de Nederlandse defensieindusterie dan orders heeft.

TenCate selected by Aerotron Brazil as business partner for supplying ballistic protection for the Embraer KC-390 military transport aircraft



Aerotron Brazil, the prime contractor for the Embraer KC-390 project, has chosen TenCate Advanced Armour as its technical and industrial partner and the supplier of the materials and special processes. Aerotron Brazil and TenCate Advanced Armour are working closely together to finalize the design and to build the prototypes of the ballistic protection according to the schedule, weight and performance requirements for the Embraer KC-390 program.

The KC-390 is the largest airplane ever conceived and built by the Brazilian aeronautics industry and will establish a new standard for medium-sized military transport aircraft, in terms of performance and payload, as well as advance mission and flight systems. It is to perform aerial refueling, transport cargo and troops, and to receive fuel in-flight. The KC-390 will be able to transport up to 23 metric tons of cargo, including wheeled armored vehicles. 

The potential market for the KC-390 is according to Embraer approximately 700 aircraft, and so far letters of intent for 60 aircraft have been signed by 6 different countries. Financial details will not be published. TenCate Advanced Armour is a global provider of customised, lightweight ballistic protection solutions for the complete range of requirements, from personal protection through all vehicle, helicopter and aircraft applications up to and including principal marine ships.

Brazilian Planemaker Unveils Its Biggest Military Jet Yet

Gavião Peixoto (Brazil) (AFP) - Brazilian planemaker Embraer unveiled its new KC-390 military transport Tuesday as the country expands its foray into the global security and defense air transport market.

Developing the KC-390, the biggest plane Embraer has produced, cost 4.6 billion reais ($1.9 billion), paid by the Brazilian Air Force in partnership with Argentina, the Czech Republic and Portugal.

The new aircraft was presented at Embraer's testing facility at Gaviao Peixoto in Sao Paulo state at a ceremony attended by Brazil's defense minister, Celso Amorim.

"This significant stage in the KC-390 program demonstrates Embraer's ability to bring a complete hi-tech project to fruition," said Jackson Schneider, the firm's president of security and defense.

Saito said the new aircraft would comprise "the backbone of the air force's transport aviation," as the plane can operate in a range of conditions "from the Amazon to the Antarctic."

Nelson During, analyst with specialist site Defesanet, dubbed the KC-390 the largest military vehicle developed in the Southern Hemisphere that would take Embraer "to a new business level."

Embraer is targeting 728 sales of the new aircraft in 77 countries for receipts of $50 billion.

Last May, the company signed a contract with the FAB to supply 28 KC-390 over ten years in a $3.2 billion deal as the FAB gradually retires the US Lockheed Hercules C-130.

Amorim said co-developers Argentina, the Czech Republic and Portugal had also signaled their intention to buy airframes, as had Colombia and Chile.

The KC-390 project, largely financed by the FAB, was launched in 2009.

The medium-size, twin-engine jet-powered aircraft is capable of transporting up to 23 tons of cargo and boasts a maximum cruising speed of 860 kilometers (550 miles) per hour.

The plane will provide logistical back-up on military, humanitarian and search-and-rescue missions.

Embraer, the world's third-largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft behind US giant Boeing and Europe's Airbus, did not indicate the unit price of the plane, due in service by year's end.

The company is one of Brazil's biggest exporters and boasted a record $22 billion of order book business at the end of the third quarter.

Earlier Tuesday, some 7,000 Embraer personnel demanding a 10 percent pay rise began a one-day strike. The company has offered 6.6 percent.

Het zal interessant zijn om te kijken of binnen de economische blokken het eigen product(en) wordt gekozen. De KC390 zal het denk ik vooral moeten hebben van afzet in Zuid-en Midden-Amerika. Daar denk ik vooral de US treffen met hun "vertrouwde" CH-130J.

Hou er rekening mee dat de Zweden in de toekomst best weleens KC390´s kunnen gaan aanschaffen in ruil voor extra Gripen E orders men heeft 7 C130´s en deze zijn E en H versies.

Ik niet. Heb het idee dat Nederland niet zo van dat soort deals is. Ook niet gek, kunnen we helemaal niet hebben op ons budget.

Het is maar net hoe je het bekijkt, met een bestelling van 4 nieuwe fregatten en een LPD en/of een JSS zullen ook de Brazilianen iets terug vragen, niets is ons vreemd zou ik zeggen.

Zo zou  ik het een geweldig idee vinden als de Amerikanen een serie van het JSS zouden bestellen als compensatie opdracht voor de F35... laten we zeggen 10 schepen, waarvan er 2 door Damen zouden worden gebouwd en de rest in eigen land....

Dat het noot gaat gebeuren is een ander verhaal...

Overigens kan ik me best de aanschaf van de KC390's en super tucano's voorstellen als Brazilië marineschepen in Vlissingen besteld
