Kuwait seeking 24 H225M Caracal helicopters

Kuwait is lining up a purchase of 24 Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracals, with a deal to be signed "as soon as possible".

The acquisition of the 11t-class rotorcraft was discussed today during a telephone call between French president Francois Hollande and Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, according to a statement posted on the French president's official website.

The statement says the contract for the Turbomeca Makila 2A1-powered helicopters "will be signed as soon as possible" between French defence minister Jean-Yves le Drian and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah.

If the contract is finalised it would mark further success for the French-built rotorcraft, which recently was selected by Poland for its 50-unit requirement.

New Polish factory to build H225M helicopters for export

More detail has emerged on Airbus Helicopters' plans to meet the offset requirements of its contract with the Polish ministry of defence for the supply of 50 H225M Caracals.

Airbus Helicopters will establish a production facility in the city of Lodz to assemble the 11t-class rotorcraft that are destined for all three branches of Warsaw's armed forces.

However, the initial 19 examples of the H225M will be manufactured at the airframer's main factory for the type in Marignane, France, says Dominique Maudet, executive vice-president global business and services.

Assuming its contract with Warsaw is finalised in the autumn, Airbus Helicopters will break ground at the new facility – to be set up in partnership with Polish firm WZL-1 – later this year, says Maudet.

As the first batch of helicopters will be French-built, the company will use the factory to produce an equivalent number of H225Ms for the export market.

"It will really become the Polish helicopter centre," says Maudet. "We will be producing Caracals for some other countries in Poland."

It will be a third production line for the H225M, behind existing sites in France and Brazil. Maudet describes it as the "fifth pillar" of Airbus Helicopters, and says in future it will also offer other design and engineering capabilities.

Airbus Helicopters is also planning to bid on a forthcoming Polish requirement for 32 attack rotorcraft, which it expects to be launched in the middle of the year. It will offer the Tiger for the contest, which would also be assembled at the Lodz site.

Engine supplier Turbomeca will also transfer some production for the Makila turboshafts that power the H225M to a new site in Sędziszów Małopolski, where sister company Hispano-Suiza already has a facility.

'Mexico eyes 50 more Caracals'     ( 2 batch voor Mexico ?)

Mexico is in talks with Airbus Helicopters on buying 50 more H225M (formerly EC725) helicopters, specialized for Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) operations. Mexico already operates 11 Caracals out of 12 ordered earlier. One was reportedly shot down earlier this year in an incident related to Mexico's drug wars.

The likely deal is worth over 2 billion USD, with a contract to be signed in July in Paris. The Caracal is a money maker for Airbus Helicopters. Poland recently selected the chopper as a future airborne asset. Other Caracal clients are France, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brazil.

H225M Caracal passes Polish helicopter trials

The Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracal has passed Polish state trials, the Polish Ministry of National Defence (MoND) announced on 27 May.

The announcement paves the way for the signing of a PLN13 billion (USD3.5 billion) contract for 50 helicopters, following the preselection of the Caracal (formerly known as the EC725) for the Polish medium-lift utility helicopter programme on 21 April.

Poland will now begin final negotiations with Airbus for the helicopters. The MoND will negotiate the contractual provisions of the contract, with the Ministry of Economy negotiating the offset package attached to the programme.

Deliveries of the Caracal are scheduled to begin in 2017, with the type set to replace Poland's Mil Mi-8/17 'Hip' utility and Mi-14 'Haze' ASW helicopters.

Nou nee hoor, velen weten nog hoe groot onze krijgsmacht wel niet was tijdens de Koude Oorlog.
En, als hier op dit forum sommigen terugkijken op die periode, dan zien ze die periode als een tijd van overvloed.

Ik heb een goed geheugen en herinner mij nog zeer goed, dat wij in Nederland ook toen voor een dubbeltje op de eerste rij wilden zitten qua defensie.  En ik weet van een voorgaande generatie dat zij op Safari werden gestuurd om zogenaamde (na-oorlogse) Politionele Acties uit te voeren in de Oost met ondeugdelijk materiaal en te weinig training.
Van weer een andere generatie weet ik, dat zij graag de A-7 Corsair II hadden als jachtbommenwerper.  Want deze was de beste en zijn tijd ver vooruit.  Helaas, te duur, dus kwam de NF-5A als goedkope oplossing.
De KM wilde graag haar stokoude Neptunes in de West begin jaren 80 vervangen door de S-3A Viking.  Helaas te duur, dus kwamen er 2 Fokker 27 Maritime's.

Dus ons bin zunig "Zeeuws Meisje" was niet alleen heden alive and kicking, maar ook vroeger.
En dat is maar goed ook, want stel je eens voor als we ons zouden gedragen als "Domme Gans".
Domme Gans heeft veel pretenties en gaat dus voor het meest peppy en dure materiaal.
Die glimmende Aprilia scooter, die wil ik !  Oeps, niet genoeg pecunia in de zak om hem te kopen, dus leasen we hem maar.
Rijduh maar ...  Maar dan gaat ie kapot of heeft de Aprilia een beurt nodig.  Oh oh, geen muntjes meer, nou dan zetten we hem maar in de schuur.
Je ziet het vaak in 'Apenlanden', ze hebben meer peppy spullen dan wij.  Tijdens Onafhankelijksdag wordt het materiaal trots getoond, mooi hoor een strakke formatie jachtvliegtuigen met rooksporen in de kleuren van de nationale vlag.
Kijk eens aan!  Maar dan vraag je betrokken personeel, hoeveel vlieguren maken jullie?  Uhh, 25 tot hooguit 60 vlieguren per jaar.  Tja.

Natuurlijk is bovenstaande een bekend feit en er is niets mis met goed rentmeesterschap, zo is het hebben van een krijgsmacht geen doel op zich maar het hebben van een krijgsmacht met een doel brengt verplichtingen met zich mee die investeringen met respect voor het beschikbare budget rechtvaardigen... en deze verplichtingen beteken imo niet visieloos hakken en voor een dubbeltje, liever 5 cent nog, op de eerste rang willen zitten.

We zijn al weer heel snel vergeten wat NL op de mat bracht, nog niet zo heel lang geleden... Nu kijken velen van ons (ook hier op dit forum) als Zeeuwmeisje naar een geschikte oplossing en zijn bereid kwaliteit te verruilen voor minder euro's.

De rest van de wereld doet dit blijkbaar niet of minder....

Poland begins evaluation tests of H225M Caracal

Poland has commenced performance verification tests of the Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracal as part of its effort to acquire a total of 50 new rotorcraft for all three branches of its armed forces.

Conducted at its 33rd air transport base in Powidz, the trials are the final step in the evaluation process ahead of a likely contract signing later this year, assuming the 11t-class helicopter meets the claims of its manufacturer.

Warsaw on 21 April announced that it had selected the Caracal for the multirole helicopter requirement ahead of the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk/S-70B Seahawk and the AgustaWestland AW149.

Airbus Helicopters provided a H225M destined for the Brazilian navy for the evaluation efforts. That was armed with twin door-mounted machine guns. The airframer displayed other possible armaments including rocket pods and the Eurotorp MU90 torpedo.

During the tests, 32 parameters covering four main areas will be verified. These include platform commonality – including component interchangeability – helicopter design, on-board equipment and performance.

Performance characteristics to be checked include speed, ceiling, endurance, operational radius and payload.

The H225M will be flown in both daylight and at night, and in visual meteorological and instrument meteorological conditions. During these missions Polish pilots with combat experience will be present in the cockpit.

Poland has assigned 28 individuals to the trials, drawn from both the military and the defence ministry.

Finalisation of the Zl13 billion ($3.5 billion) contract is anticipated in the third quarter, with deliveries commencing in 2017.

Zeker, alleen hier zijn we hier doorgeschoten en wordt teveel gekeken naar de euro's of beter gezegd naar minder euro's... en niet naar het doel en het rendement van de investering.

Poolse krijgsmacht selecteert H225M Caracal



WARSCHAU – Polen heeft de Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracal gekozen als potentiële kandidaat voor een omvangrijk vlootvernieuwingsprogramma voor de Poolse strijdkrachten.

De in de 11-ton gewichtsklasse H225M zal in mei en juni worden onderworpen aan validatietests. Vallen deze gunstig uit, dan volgt een order voor vijftig toestellen van dit type dan vanaf 2017 geleverd moeten worden.

Door deze keuze vissen AgustaWestland (AW149) en Sikorsky (S-70i Black Hawk en S-70B Seahawk) voorlopig achter het net.
