Dat dacht ik ook direct ja. Aan de andere kant..als de AAV7 de Turken qua grootte en capaciteiten gewoon erg goed bevalt..waarom dan niet een lokale kopie maken op basis van een ander moderner onderstel (Kaplan)?!

Turkey start construction of TCG Anadolu amphibious assault ship

Turkey begins construction of the first   amphibious assault ship for the Turkish navy. The new ship was named TCG Anadolu (Anatolia  in Turkish) and developed by the Sedef–Navantia consortium.

The TCG Anadolu will use the same design as that of the Spanish ship Juan Carlos I. All of the ship's weapons system will be procured by Turkish firms Havelsan and ASELSAN. Expected launch in year 2021

The first steel cut ceremony was held at Sedef shipyard in Tuzlay Bay close to Istanbul. During the ceremony President of Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that "TCG Anadolu will be the first ship in the navy from which F-35B SVTOL will be operate and would be delivered in 4 years (compared to the originally planned 5 years and a half).

Turkey orders new amphibious assault vehicle for use on new TCG Anadolu amphibious ship



Turkish company FNSS Savunma to develop a new Zırhlı Amfibi Hücum Aracı (ZAHA) amphibious assault vehicle for use on new TCG Anadolu amphibious assault ship.

According to Undersecretariat for Defence Industries of Turkey's Ministry of National Defence, Turkey has awarded a contract to FNSS Savunma to build 23 amphibious armored assault vehicles, 2 amphibious assault command vehicle and 2 amphibious assault rescue vehicles for the Turkish Armed Forces.

The new ZAHA  amphibious assault vehicle will be used to land the surface assault elements of the landing force and their equipment in a single lift from assault shipping during amphibious operations to inland objectives and to conduct mechanized operations and related combat support in subsequent mechanized operations ashore.

The new Turkish ZAHA amphibious assault vehicle most likely to be developed on Kaplan chassis. The Kaplan has a low silhouette, and with its twin 6 road wheeled tracks, has the ability operate in hot/cold weather conditions at high speed not only on asphalt and stabilized highways, but also in soft soil, muddy and rough terrains.

De modernisatie zou voornamelijk met implementatie van active protection systems te maken hebben. In Syrië hebben de Turken tientallen tanks verloren. Zo zie je maar weer dat APS op onze CV90 een goede keuze was.

Ook zonder APS had veel Turkse ellende voorkomen kunnen worden door gewoon normaal op te treden.

Daarnaast is APS enorm duur en ik denk niet dat je het snel in Syrie gaat zien.

Turkey Launches $500 Million Tank-Upgrade Contest

ANKARA—The Turkish government has officially launched a competition for the upgrade of a batch of 200 German- and US-made battle tanks in the army's inventory, a contract that analysts estimate to be worth roughly $500 million.

Five Turkish companies placed their upgrade bids on Jan. 23. The local bidders are: military electronics specialist Aselsan, Turkey's biggest defense company; missile-maker Roketsan; and armored vehicles manufacturers BMC, Otokar and FNSS. Aselsan and Roketsan are state-controlled companies; BMC, Otokar and FNSS are privately owned.

Theresa May signs £100m fighter jet deal with Turkey's Erdoğan

The defence deal will see BAE Systems collaborate with Turkish companies to build a bespoke Turkish jet, the TF-X. It is worth £100m – small in economic terms – but Britain hopes it will kick off a longstanding relationship, and open the door to becoming Turkey's main defence provider. De projecten hebben last van economische teruggang en boycot-acties van sommige landen waarmee wordt samengewerkt. Maar het is tekenend voor de groeiende militaire zelfstandigheid van een aantal middel en grote landen in de wereld. Met daardoor ook meer concurrentie bij export-orders. Meenemen in de analyses en afwegingen aub!
