Met de motoren van de Amsterdam was dat wel helaas het geval, men dacht tijdens het ontwerp van de Amsterdam goedkoop uit te zijn door de motoren bij de Spaanse scheepbouwer Bazan (nu Navantia) te bestellen maar de motoren van de Amsterdam waren een drama en de laatse jaren waren deze ook op.
De Amsterdam is een gezamlijk ontwerp van KM en de Spaanse marine. Bazan heeft een licentie bij M A N.

Als het geen cent te veel mag kosten dan vindt je vanzelf problemen op je weg.

Norway acquires five new maritime patrol aircrafts for Arctic waters

P-8A Poseidon will fly on intelligence missions over areas where Russia's submarine fleet is more and more active.

"The introduction of Poseidon aircrafts is crucial for Norway to maintin a leading position and expertise on strategic issues in northern areas," says Minister of Defence Ine Eriksen Søreide in a statement posted on the Ministry's portal.

For Norway, the top-modern Boeing aircrafts will cost nearly 10 billion kroner (€1,1 billion). That sum does not include the Intelligence equipment to be places onboard.

Deliveries are expected for 2021 and 2022.

Introduced in 2013, the P8-A Poseidon is a modified version of the Boeing 737-800 originally developed for the United States Navy. Australia and India have already the aircraft in operation, while the United Kingdom has ordered 9 planes.

Norway's ageing fleet of six P-3 Orion with the 333 Squadron at Andøya airport north of the Arctic Circle is essential for intelligence gathering along the coast of Norway and in the Barents Sea where Norway borders Russia to the east. The aircrafts, however, are getting old. The two oldest were delivered in 1968 and 1969 while the four other were delivered in 1988 and 1989.

The Russian Northern fleet's submarine bases are all situated along the ice-free coast of the Kola Peninsula and submarines on voyages to the North Atlantic have to sail north of mainland Norway.

Also, the aircrafts support civilian surveillance in cooperation with the Coast Guard, assist in search- and rescue operations and play a vital role in environmental monitoring of both the Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea.

All five new maritime surveillance aircrafts will all be based at Evenes airport in Troms, northern Norway.

met een goed onderhoudsprogramma, update's en conservering, moet dat lukken ......  .....    .. oeps foutje , moet natuurlijk 2035-2040 zijn

Ze worden nog geupgrade, maar tijdlijn wanneer ze vervangen moeten worden is niet bekend, maar als je naar de indienststellingsdatum kijkt en dan 30 jaar verder kom je uit in de tijdslijn op vervanging 3035 - 3040. Dus moeten ze nog even mee.

Kongsberg to upgrade Fridtjof Nasen-class frigates for Norway

OSLO, Norway, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- The Norwegian Defense Materiel Agency has awarded Kongsberg Defense with a $36 million contract to upgrade Fridtjof Nasen-class frigates.

The upgrades for the vessels will include the combat management and active sonar systems. The company has previously supplied anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare systems based on the integrated Aegis Combat System. Officials estimate the work will be complete after four years, and will effectively extend the service life for the ships.

"Kongsberg is pleased to be part of the upgrade program extending the lifetime of the systems on board the Fridtjof Nansen class," Kongsberg Defense acting president Eirik Lie said in a press release. "Kongsberg is a leading Combat System supplier for ships and submarines delivered to eleven nations around the world, and this contract confirms our strong position."

Fridtjof Nasen-class frigates are the primary maritime surface combat units for the Royal Norwegian Navy, and take their names from famous Norwegian explorers. The vessels are manufactured by Spanish shipbuilder Navantia.

The ships are designed to meet a variety of threats including submarines and attack aircraft, and are typically armed with Evolved Sea Sparrow missiles, Sting Ray torpedoes, and an OTO Melara cannon.
