Dit betreft de Midlife Update van het groot pantserwielvoertuig Boxer om dit voertuig in de tweede fase van de levensduur technisch inzetbaar en operationeel relevant te houden.

Volgens mij is dit andere motor, ophanging en wielen. (Die je nodig hebt voor zwaardere modules)

Voor de Britse markt 

Idd, voor de UK, samenwerking tussen WFEL (UK) en Rheinmetall, hebben samen voor de Britten 2 versies ontwikkel voor overbrugging van 14 en 22 meter. Maar wel een totaal ander concept dan de Cobra. Die van WFEL/RM is een Boxer als "vaste" bruglegger. De Cobra is, volgens mij, zo ontwikkeld dat elke Boxer met de betreffend voor-aansluiting het brug-mechanisme/systeem aan kan koppelen en meenemen. Een soort ad-on optie voor een "standaard" Boxer.

Meet Boxer Cobra: Rheinmetall has developed a bridgelayer version of Boxer based on an idea of the Royal Netherlands Army Engineer Regiment. This capability enables the armed forces to quickly launch and recover bridges up to Military Load Classification MLC 90 (15 m bridge), or MLC 120 (9 m bridge). The system launches the Cobra bridge in front of the vehicle and is modular which means it can be attached and removed when needed, maintaining Boxer's full functionality and flexibility for other missions.

* As the Boxer CRV is a reconnaissance variant based on an IFV variant, it is designed with capacity for infantry (dismounting scouts), but the German Jäger will not have dismounts on the Schwerer Waffenträger Infanterie... so they are trying to come up with some sort of use for the rear compartment such as carrying UAVs (which can be and are already carried in lighter vehicles at greater distance from the front line) or "UGVs armed for example with an autocannon" (currently market available UGVs with autocannon - unless talking about an anemic solution with the M230LF - are too heavy and too large to be carried inside the Boxer and have enough endurance - e.g. Milrem Type X UGV: 600 km - to be drive on their own).

* As per the German concept for the Medium Forces (Mittlere Kräfte), at least some Marder IFVs are to be replaced with a Boxer IFV model. The latest plans suggest that a total of 148 Boxer IFVs should be procured. Supposedly the Army favors an unmanned solution, so there won't be any turret commonality with the Schwerer Waffenträger Infanterie.

* The Germany parliament has reportedly rejected the notion to buy the Boxer CRV Block 2 from Australia after the selection of the Redback IFV. Earlier reports suggest that buying Boxers from Australia was twice as expensive as producing them in Germany and was meant to be a compensation deal when choosing Lynx.

* The reason for not accepting the Boxer CRV are two-fold. Supposedly the system is not as mature as claimed, inofficially the purchase was meant as a quid pro quo for selecting the Lynx. Not selecting the Lynx might have killed export chances for the Boxer CRV.

Duitse en Australische puinhoop. Kan de Australische keuzes op gebied van materiaal verwerving ook nooit goed volgen. Bij ons is het megatraag maar er zit echt wel een rationele achter.

UK voices frustration with Boxer manufacturers over supply chain delays

A Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) official at the IQPC International Armoured Vehicles conference in London today said that while they had "some sympathy for industry covering excessive supply chain challenges" caused by COVID-19 and cyber hacking, manufacturers only reacted after feeling an "impact."

Maar een Boxer RCT 120mm heeft dan toch ook het hoogte probleem voor transport ?
Of is dit geen issue meer ?

Ik zou het toejuichen dat de 13X de vuurkracht/steun krijgt van zowel 35mm als 120mm. Dan kunnen ze veel meer een vuist maken als medium.
En dat is nu niet het geval.

De RCT 120mm Rups Boxer module zou dus ook op de wielboxer passen. Dan zou ik voor de 13X voorstellen 122 Boxers 35mm +Spike. En 52 Boxers RCT 120mm. Met een NLD Tankbat voor 43X zijn dan alle 3 de brigades weer op sterkte.

EOV is alleen maar belangrijker geworden. Russen schijnen over gehele front om de 10 km een dergelijke eenheid te hebben staan. Om te storen, jammen, versterken, rommelen.

Goed dat we naar de hele toolbox kijken, nu nog drones voor clas, op groepsniveau, minimaal pelotonsniveau.
