Turkey – Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) (Corrected*)

WASHINGTON, Oct 30, 2015 - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Turkey for Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $70 million.  The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on October 28, 2015.

The Government of Turkey has requested a possible sale of Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) tail kits comprised of 400 GBU-31(V)1 for use with Mk84 bombs, 200 GBU-31(V)3 for use with BLU-109 bombs, 300 GBU-38 for use with Mk82 bombs, 100 GBU-54 Laser JDAM kits for use with Mk82 bombs, 200 BLU-109 Hard Target Penetrator Warheads, and1000 FMU-152A/B fuzes.  Non-MDE includes containers, support equipment, spare and repair parts, integration, test equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor engineering and technical support, and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $70 million.

Government of Thailand - Evolved Seasparrow Missiles (ESSM)

WASHINGTON, Oct. 29, 2015 - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Thailand of Evolved Seasparrow Missiles (ESSM) and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $26.9 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on October 28, 2015.

The Government of Thailand requested a possible sale of Major Defense Equipment for its Evolved Seasparrow Missile (ESSM) program. The total estimated value of MDE is $18,570,385. The total overall estimated value is $26,943,445.

Major Defense Equipment (MDE) includes:
Sixteen (16) Evolved Seasparrow Missiles (ESSM) (Fourteen (14) tactical missiles and two (2) telemetry missiles)
Three (3) MK25 Quad Pack canisters
Ten (10) MK783 shipping containers

Also included with this request is additional equipment; training; and technical services.

Ja, maar ze mogen zich ondertussen toch ook wel eens gaan realiseren dat er ooit een einde gaat komen aan die inkomsten en dat er al invloedrijke landen zijn die actief de afhankelijkheid van Olie uit het Midden Oosten aan het verminderen zijn. De Verenigde Arabische Emiraten en dan m.n. Dubai pakken dat m.i. toch wat geraffineerder aan. Ok, ook daar ridicule projecten, maar voor een deel is dat ook de charme die men daar wil uitstralen ''alles kan'' en men weet goed gebruik te maken van de strategische ligging van de regio.

Saoedie-Arabie vind ik wat dat betreft een heel ander verhaal. Ook een stuk zorgwekkender gezien de rol die men heeft gespeelt in het verleden en de rol die men nu en in de toekomst wenst te spelen (en waar wij als Westen helemaal niet zo blij mee zouden moeten zijn).

Je zou verwachten dat men de welvaart tevens wat beter zou verdelen om o.a. het extreme radicalisme enigszins te temperen, maar dat wil men volgens mij maar in beperkte mate al is het maar omdat de Staat ZELF daar ook gewoon fundamentalistisch is met een tribale inslag. Best dramatisch voor het land zelf, maar ook zeker voor de hele regio m.i..

De Saudi's zijn zo-wie-zo flink aan het investeren in hun Marine, gezien hun Saudi Naval Expansion Program II (SNEP 2)

The four ships, dubbed the Multi-Mission Surface Combatant (MMSC), are expected to be classed as frigates by the Saudis. They will be the largest component of the SNEP 2 program, which is also expected to include six corvettes, 20 to 24 patrol vessels, three maritime patrol aircraft, and 30 to 50 UAVs. Altogether, the SNEP 2 program is expected to be worth at least $16 billion.

De Saudi versie is een stuk beter bewapend dan de Amerikaanse versie ! maar een kleinere mission bay.

The armament and configuration of the Saudi MMSC is in stark contrast to the US Navy's frigate version of the LCS, now under development. The Navy, in a decision announced in December, chose not to install vertical launch systems (VLS) for missiles or to replace the 57mm guns of the LCS with a heavier 76mm weapon. While the US frigates will have a yet-to-be-determined over-the-horizon missile, there will be no area air defense missile capability.

The Saudi ships, however, will feature a 16-cell VLS installation able to launch Evolved Sea Sparrow missiles, and will carry Harpoon Block II surface-to-surface missiles in dedicated launchers, and anti-air Rolling Airframe Missiles in a SeaRAM close-in weapon system. The MMSC will also mount a 76mm gun.

While the Saudi ships will have a small mission bay, the MMSCs will not feature the mission modules that are the heart of the US Navy's LCS concept.

US OKs Potential $11.25B Saudi Deal for LCS Variant

WASHINGTON — The US State Department today announced its approval of the proposed sale to Saudi Arabia of four heavily armed versions of the Lockheed Martin littoral combat ship (LCS), a deal that, along with weapons, systems and support, would be worth up to $11.25 billion.

Congress has 30 calendar days to approve or deny the deal, which would mark the first international sale of an LCS variant.

ik weet niet of Saudi-Arabie in de huidige opzet de komende 10 jaar zal halen...Dan kunnen ze alsnog naar de Amerikaanse marine zelf....best slim 

Tja SA bevind zich in zijn huidige vorm in een gevarenzone en Idd de USN zal er in dat geval vast blij mee zijn.
