Dit zijn onnodige vragen die iedereens tijd en geld verspillen. Een commissie moet zich ook laten informeren over het onderwerp, adviseurs enzo. De gemiddelde politicus heeft geen verstand van techniek of militaire systemen.

Precies dit. Daarom denk ik ook dat ze is gebruikt door haar partij. Dit project had w.s al genoeg vertraging maar een of andere lobby/belangengroep zal wel aan hebben gedrongen op een comissie. Daar is aan toegegeven en dat moest vooral niet voor de subs gaan liggen. Iemand is aangesteld die geen idee heeft waar ze mee bezig is of gewoon the wrong person for the job is.. nou zie hier. Dat is hier gebeurt.

Zij faalt niet, de Australische politiek faalt hier. Er gebeurt hier in ieder geval iets heel vreemds. Dat 1 figuur een loodzwaar technisch moeilijk niche dossier moet gaan doorlichten. Absurd natuurlijk, maar asjeblieft.. denk voor jezelf. accepteer niet direct wat je denkt te zien.

Dergelijke commissies zijn heel belangrijk, er is al genoeg scheit, in elk land, uitgehaald door een krijgsmacht op deze manier bovenwater gehaald.

Ze had ondersteund moeten worden door experts, ter plekke, of vervangen voordat dit dossier had aangevangen. Dat dat niet is gebeurt is merkwaardig. Ik denk dat ze is gebruikt.

Sweden's Future A26 Submarines Named HMS Blekinge And HMS Skåne

The Swedish Navy's two first A26 submarines will be named HMS Blekinge and HMS Skåne, the country's Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) said on January 15, 2019. The two submarines will be delivered to the Swedish Navy in 2024 and 2025.

Naming submarines with coastal landscape is a tradition through which names are proposed by the Navy and approved by the Swedish King, in the form of a so-called « appreciation ». The final decision is then made by the Chief of Navy.

During a visit to Saab Kockums facilities on June 30, 2015 the former Swedish defence minister, Peter Hultqvist, announced that two submarines will be ordered for a cost of US$ 959 million.

Production of the new submarines is in full swing at Saab's shipyard in Karlskrona. The A26 submarines will be powered by conventional diesel-electric propulsion machinery and equipped with the Kockums Stirling AIP (air-independent propulsion) system, which means that the A26 should be able to operate for long periods of time without having to charge batteries with snorkel systems. The Stirling system will make the Type A26 very stealthy and difficult to detect.

During its Submarine Seminar 2017, Saab Kockums announced that the A26 next generation submarine is now a family with three model range: Pelagic, Oceanic and Oceanic (Extended Range).

Among them, the Oceanic variant is pretty much the "baseline" A26 designed for the Swedish Navy. A26 Oceanic measures 65 meters in length with a surfaced displacement of 2,000 tons. Its range is over 6,500 nautical miles at 10 knots and its endurance at patrol speed is over a month (30 days) thanks to the AIP module. It standard crew complement is 17 to 35 sailors.

China Opposes Foreign Participation in Taiwan Submarine Production  (  ii!ii  )

China on Monday expressed stern opposition to participation by the United States and other countries in Taiwan's submarine production project.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks when responding to media reports saying the United States has permitted some of its military enterprises to export technology to help Taiwan build submarines.

Enterprises from the United States, Europe, Japan and India have reportedly demonstrated their interest to take part in the project.

China's firm opposition to any countries' arms sales and military relations with Taiwan in any forms is consistent and clear-cut, Hua stressed at a regular press briefing.

"We urge the United States and other relevant countries to fully understand how sensitive and harmful this matter is," Hua added.

She urged these countries to adhere to the one-China principle and not to allow their enterprises to take part in Taiwan's submarine manufacture project in any forms.

They must stop any forms of military ties with Taiwan, deal with Taiwan-related issues properly and cautiously to avoid severely jeopardizing relations with China as well as peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, she said.

Leidos awarded contract for NGCM torpedo countermeasures for US submarines   ( .. hebben NL onderzeeboten ook zo'n systeem .. ? )

Leidos has been awarded $US 36 million worth contract from the US Naval Sea Systems Command to develop Next Generation Countermeasures (NGCM) torpedo countermeasures for submarine defense.

Leidos is expected to design, build and test a brand new Acoustic Device Countermeasure (ADC), which is called the ADC MK5, in order to replace the previous ADC MK3, within 2 years (with 3 additional one-year option years). The company will also provide technical engineering services such as software and hardware development.

The ADC MK5 is a 3-inch diameter device launched from submarines to neutralise incoming torpedoes, by generating noise to deceive their sonar guidance systems. This device will have to be able to classify the torpedoes and to avoid them to reach the submarine.

Taiwan Indigenous Defense Submarine project nears construction phase
Necessary licenses have been obtained and a design is being finalized, MND will seek legislative approval of contractors in March, 2019

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – During a budget review session at the Legislative Yuan this week, the Committee of Foreign Affairs and National Defense discussed the indigenous defense submarine program with officials from the Ministry of National Defense (MND).The director of the Naval Shipbuilding Development Center, Rear Adm. Shao Wei-yang (邵維揚), revealed in his statements that the MND has already obtained the primary and secondary equipment marketing licenses which are necessary to begin construction on the indigenous Taiwan submarine program.


According to a report from Liberty Times, the MND is planning to present the results of a classified report on the project in March of next year, and will seek legislative approval to begin construction on a prototype model sub in cooperation with the Taiwan Shipbuilding Corporation (CSBC), the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, and international partners. Navy Chief of Staff, Lee Chung-hsiao (李宗孝), stated before the Legislative Yuan that nearly 15 European and North American manufacturers were interested in participating in the Taiwan's domestic submarine manufacturing project. Due to the threat facing the country, and outdated, and classed submarines in the naval fleet, Taiwan's MND under the direction of the Tsai government initiated the project to begin manufacturing submarines domestically in 2016.

The contract design phase was planned to last from 2016-2020, but the MND and partners in the project have shown remarkable progress, and a prototype model sub may soon be ready for manufacture. The project budget for the prototype is NT$49.3 billion (US$1.6 billion). The design for the prototype should be finalized next year, and construction of the first indigenous sub should begin in 2020, or possibly later next year if progress keeps apace. The first indigenous defense submarine is expected to be completed by 2025, and will then undergo one to two years of testing before entering service, reports LTN.

Australia, Naval Group conclude sub negotiations

MELBOURNE, Australia – Australian Defence Minister Christopher Pyne confirmed that the Australian government has finally concluded negotiations for the formal signing of a strategic partnering agreement for 12 large conventionally-powered attack submarines from Naval Group.

Australia is acquiring the vessels under its $50 billion (U.S. $36.12 billion) Project Sea 1000 (Future Submarine) to replace its existing fleet of six Collins Submarines from the early 2030s. The subs will be the 'Attack' class with the lead vessel named HMAS Attack. They will be fabricated in Australia to a design previously known as the Shortfin Barracuda 1A.

Recent local media reports have suggested that negotiations between the parties had stalled, placing the government's timeline for the Collins replacement in jeopardy, but Pyne said on Thursday the program was still on track.

"There's been a lot of ill-informed mythmaking around the negotiations but I'm very happy to say today the negotiations are complete," Pyne said during sod-turning event at the site of the Future Submarine Construction Yard at Osborne in South Australia. "The strategic planning agreement will be signed in February next year and we can continue to get on with the submarine project, which has been under the design and mobilization contract for the last two years."

Declining to provide details of the intricacies of the agreement due to their commercial nature, Pyne said the negotiations were officially concluded at an Australian Government National Security Committee meeting in Melbourne on Dec. 10.

"Suffice to say the Australian government's interests, the Australian taxpayer's interests, have been taken care of," he said. "Naval Group Australia will deliver 12 regionally-superior submarines on time and on budget."

Australia's Chief of Navy, Vice Adm. Mark Noonan, also denied reports of an emerging capability gap between the retirement of the first Collins submarines and the Attack boats entering service, which some analysts have suggested might require a 'Plan B' to be formulated.

"I don't believe that's the case," he told reporters. "We've got a very solid plan to ensure that there is no gap in our nation's submarine capability, and there is a very advanced plan that will see a number of our current Collins class submarines going through a life of type extension program, which will ensure that capability gap doesn't exist."

De Braziliaanse marine laat vandaag hun nieuwste onderzeeboot te water, de ''Riachuelo'' is een boot uit de Scorpène klasse naar ontwerp van Naval Group uit Frankrijk. De boot is de eerste uit een geplande serie van 4, wel is de boot een stuk langer (5.22 m) dan de rest van de Scorpène boten. De boten moeten +/- 70 dagen op zee kunnen blijven, daarmee zijn ze vergelijkbaar met de wens van onze marine.
