Tja ... wat is tegenwoordig een Korvet en wat een fregat, onze OPV is heeft nog meer tonnage dan het M fregat

Ik ben benieuwd naar de definitieve bewapening, wat ik gezien/gelezen heb o.a. 76mm en 8x VLS

Als we van F127 een single class kunnen maken, en dan ook nog twee voor Denemarken ofzo, ja zeker. Dat is logisch en zou goed haalbaar moeten zijn. Maar dat vereist compromissen en die zie ik niet gemaakt worden.

Raytheon integrates mid-course and terminal guidance for Maritime Strike Tomahawk

Raytheon obtains Tomahawk Block Va contract modification from NAVAIR.

Raytheon Technologies is to integrate, produce, qualify, test and field Tomahawk Block Va (Maritime Strike Tomahawk - MST) seeker suites and all subsystems required to provide mid-course and terminal guidance, under a $19.59 million contract modification from US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

'The procured quantity of seeker suites will be installed in recertified Tomahawk missiles for the Navy,' the DoD announced on 29 October, adding that work is expected to be completed by October 2024.

All Tomahawk Block IVs in USN service are being upgraded to the Block V/Va/Vb configuration with a longer range, dynamic targeting and (in the case of MST) the capability to hit vessels at sea.

In this context, MST was name-checked by ADM Philip Davidson, head of the US Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) during a Senate Armed Services Committee appearance in March 2021 as one of the crucial weapon systems required for US forces in the region.

The UK RN is also installing the missile on its Type 26 (City-class) frigates and MST is also earmarked for the future Canadian Surface Combatant.

Dat was ook mijn gedachte ... 

Damen zou hier wel de sleutel figuur kunnen spelen idd, vooral met de DU samenwerking in het F126 project en eventueel F127 project

FEINDEF: Navantia and Fincantieri sign a MoU to boost their collaboration

According to a press release published by Navantia on November 2, 2021, the Spanish firm and Fincantieri have reached an agreement on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to boost their relationship and explore the joint benefit of a broadened collaboration in the naval and maritime domains.

Both companies, which are first-class reference European shipyards, will assess future opportunities for Italian and Spanish Navies, including the development of joint projects and the participation in the development of future destroyers and other naval platforms that will be part of the future European Defence Force.

The signature will take place this Wednesday, November 3rd, in Navantia stand in FEINDEF exhibition in Madrid, by General Manager Naval Vessels Division of Fincantieri Giuseppe Giordo and Navantia Chairman Ricardo Domínguez.

Navantia and Fincantieri are already collaborating in the European Patrol Corvette (EPC) program, to date the most important naval initiative within the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) project, together with the French Naval Group.

European Patrol Corvette (EPC or PPX) is a Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) project that was adopted by the European Council on 12 November 2019. The objective is to design and develop a new class of warship. The project is coordinated by Italy, with France, Spain and Greece participating and Portugal as an observer. The ships will have a conventional hull of different dimensions, armament and propulsion systems.

Ondertussen krijgt de Italiaanse marine maar 15 x F-35B. De andere 15 stuks F-35B zijn voor de Italiaanse luchtmacht en die komen vooralsnog niet aan boord van de Cavour of Trieste.

Hoe ik het begrijp en steeds beter begin te begrijpen biedt de F35 capaciteiten die alles overstijgen. Vandaar.

Het artikel draait om F-35B capable carriers, dus niet de catobar varianten. In dat opzicht klopt het artikel wel.

Maar ik ben geen voorstander van het idee in het artikel. Naar mijn idee kan Italie veel beter beginnen met de vervanger van de cavour en er dan (vervroegd) twee bouwen. Niet de trieste zo aanpassen dat het dok komt te vervallen en alle andere ideeën uit het artikel.

Daarbij gewoon de Fransen met hun CAT-launched Rafale M's vergetend... waarvan ze er 30 kunnen inschepen en mee kunnen...
Maar die hebben natuurlijk "slechts" 1 carrier.
