ARM-WAP

2) Geld... is hun grootste probleem.

HHI Lays Keel of Royal New Zealand Navy Future HMNZS Aotearoa Tanker

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) laid the keel of the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) future fleet tanker HMNZS Aotearoa. The ceremony took place on 13 August 2018 at HHI's Ulsan shipyard in South Korea.

HMNZS Aotearoa will replace the fleet tanker HMNZS Endeavour that decommissions next year after more than 30 years of loyal service. Aotearoa will boast state of the art design and capability features including ice-strengthening and 'winterisation' features for operations in Antarctica. She will also be able to carry 12 containers of supplies and have the ability to produce 100 tonnes of fresh water each day which will make her invaluable when providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief.

She will carry 8,000 tonnes of diesel fuel which is enough to 'fill up' a frigate like Te Mana or Te Kaha 13.87 times. And she'll be able to carry and operate a RNZAF NH90 helicopter. Aotearoa will have a core crew of 64 plus 11 flight crew.

The 24,000-tonne vessel is set to become the largest vessel ever operated by the Royal New Zealand Navy. It will be launched in March next year, and enter service in 2020.

HMNZS Aotearoa will be a world-first naval "Environship", with Hyundai using the Rolls-Royce Environship concept design under licence. The design incorporates a new wave-piercing hull, which reduces resistance and lowers fuel use, while its combined diesel electric and diesel propulsion plant has lower fuel emissions than older vessels.

The design and capabilities of HMNZS Aotearoa were announced by the Ministry of Defence in 2016. The cost includes the tanker's enhanced "winterisation" capabilities, such as ice-strengthening for operations in Antarctica, including resupplying McMurdo Station and Scott Base. HMNZS Endeavour is not Antarctic-capable.

New Zealand's Defence Minister Gerry Brownlee announced in July 2016 that HHI of South Korea won a contract to build and deliver a new tanker for the Royal New Zealand Navy. HHI beat rival DSME in the tender worth close to $500 million.

The original requirements as drafted by the New Zealand Navy included the capability of refuelling and sustaining the Joint Task Force both at-sea and from-the-sea as well as the ability to support ground forces, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions, primarily within the Pacific region.

PH Navy to Acquire Six Austal Offshore Patrol Vessels

The Philippine Navy will acquire six offshore patrol vessels from Austal, Australia's largest shipbuilder, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana revealed on Thursday. While details of the purchase are not immediately available, Lorenzana said the vessels would be built in Austal's Philippine shipyard in Cebu. Maganda ito kasi it will be made in the Philippines," he told reporters in a press briefing. Aside from the Philippines, Austal has shipyards in US and Australia and service centers around the world. It builds defense and commercial vessel platforms.

On Thursday, the Philippine Navy successfully tested its first missile system off Lamao Point in Bataan. The weapons were fired from the three multi-purpose attack craft and hit the designated target. Lorenzana said that the Philippines will purchase more missiles in the future. "We are getting more of those kasi nga we are acquiring more vessels eh."

France Confirms Fincantieri-STX Shipyard Deal, Cautious on Defense Merger

The French government continues to support Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri's takeover of STX France, finance minister Bruno Le Maire said on Wednesday, but cautioned against hastening a related defense naval merger. Speaking in Rome after a meeting with the Italian government, he told journalists France had not changed its position on the deal, quelling concerns the takeover could be hampered by tenser relations between Paris and Italy's new anti-establishment government. However, he warned against hastening a merger between Fincantieri and French military shipyards operator Naval Group which has been seen as a possible follow-up to the takeover of STX. "It would not be wise" to discuss a defense merger now, Le Maire told reporters, stressing that this was not part of the deal reached in 2017. Under the terms of that agreement between France and Italy, Fincantieri bought a 50 percent share in STX, but it took effective control of the French shipyards thanks to a 12-year loan of a 1 percent stake by the French state, which is subject to review clauses. Relations between France and Italy have soured in recent weeks over spats on migrants and after the Italian government raised doubts on the TAV French-Italian rail link project which would connect Lyon and Turin. Le Maire said after his meeting on Wednesday with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio that Paris was still waiting for Italy's position on the project.

CitaatGermany unveils names of five new K130 corvettes

Germany's defense ministry has announced names of the five new corvettes to be built for the country's navy.

The second batch of Braunschweig-class (K130) corvettes will be named Köln, Emden, Karlsruhe, Augsburg, and Lübeck. They will also be affiliated with their namesake cities.

As informed, the five vessels will be constructed in phases. 'Köln' is scheduled to start construction in January 2019, with a keel laying ceremony planned for April 2019.

Corvette Köln will be followed by Emden, Karlsruhe, Augsburg, and Lübeck. The keel for the final vessel is expected to be laid in December 2020.

In 2017, a contract worth €2.4 billion for the construction of the new corvettes has been awarded to the ARGE K130 consortium, composed of Lürssen Werft, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and the recently incorporated German Naval Yards Kiel.

German maritime technology firm Atlas Elektronik and Thales Deutschland have been also contracted to deliver combat systems for the five new K130 corvettes. In addition to combat systems, the contract will see the two companies set up and deliver a test and training center in Wilhelmshaven.

Braunschweig-class corvettes were ordered because of the navy's increased scope and tempo of operations. Another reason is the fact that the MKS180 Multi-role Combat Ship order was delayed and the corvette announcement was interpreted as an offset to the delays.

The German Navy already operates five K130 ships. The second batch of corvettes will be similar in design to their predecessors, with updated technology.

Dan krijg je zo iets als dit binnen de Portugese marine ;

Portugal eyes acquisition of amphibious ship and advances plans for additional OPVs
Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa has announced plans for the local construction of a multipurpose logistics ship for the Portuguese Navy.
Speaking at the naming ceremony of the Viana do Castelo-class offshore patrol vessel (OPV) NRP Sines (P363) on 20 July, he said the logistics ship will be built at the yards of privately owned shipbuilder West Sea-Estaleiros Navais. Six new OPVs are also planned for construction at the same yard, he said. Portugal currently operates three OPVs and a fourth is being completed.
The two acquisitions projects will be inserted into first review of the country's Military Programming Law 2015–2026, which is planned for release in late 2018, sources said.
