ILA 2016: New Air Defence System from MBDA Deutschland and Rheinmetall Can Fire on the Move
(of als extra toevoeging aan/op een Boxer IGV )

MBDA and Rheinmetall will unveil at the Berlin Air Show a new air-defense turret, which combines Mistral VSRAD missiles and the MPCS turret. Offered to replace the Germany army's vehicle-mounted Stinger, the new system can fire on the move.


For the first time at the ILA Berlin Air Show, MBDA Deutschland, together with its industrial partner Rheinmetall, is exhibiting a system concept for close- and very close-range protection against airborne threats. This solution ensures highly mobile escort protection as well as immediate firing readiness and integrates seamlessly within the TLVS system architecture as a further possible element of integrated air defence.

In this respect, MBDA and Rheinmetall are pursuing a completely modular solution approach that leverages the integration of existing, series-ready subsystems and components, such as MBDA's Mistral guided missile integrated in the Rheinmetall MPCS turret. In this combination, the component can be deployed as a successful, high-performance successor to the leFlaSys/Stinger system.

The components provide reconnaissance, command and control and effect capability against the current and future threat spectrum at close and very close range. Thanks to the modular approach, they can be flexibly integrated with little effort on a variety of platforms such as the Boxer for example. The system is relatively light, yet at the same time boasts a large number of effectors per vehicle.

The joint approach of MBDA Deutschland and Rheinmetall builds on a unified system architecture for connecting sensors and effectors that also ensure secure reconnaissance and engagement of current threats from small and very small targets (UAS, LSS).

Many of these components are already commercially available, in service and mission tested by various nations. As a result, implementation risk is reduced and development costs are minimised.

Ik denk dat de geniemodule in Nederland wordt gemaakt en de APC module in Duitsland ( dus waarschijnlijk contractbreuk).

Snap nog steeds niet waarom ze niet voor APC's of IFV's zijn gegaan.
Zeker de APC zal toch niet heel veel duurder zijn dan de genievariant?

Netherlands 'New Vehicle Mix' BOXER Production Contract Awarded

A contract for a new vehicle mix of BOXER vehicles for the Netherlands was signed on 25 May 2016 at the OCCAR-EA headquarters in Bonn by the original equipment manufacturer ARTEC GmbH and OCCAR. The Netherlands was represented at the event by Lt Col John Lussenburg from DMO, the Dutch National Programme Coordinator for the BOXER Programme.

The Netherlands identified over the last years that the operational concept had changed and in this respect the numbers of the different variants ordered were no longer reflecting the actual needs. Additional Engineer vehicles were required instead of Cargo and Command Post Vehicles. Because of this, the Netherlands requested to change the numbers of these variants.

The contract amendment increases the number of Engineer vehicles to 39, reduces the number of Cargo vehicles to 15 and reduces the Command Post vehicles to 24.

The new vehicle mix contract was prepared in a short timeframe during 2016 in close cooperation between OCCAR-EA, the Netherlands Official Services and ARTEC.

At this moment it is planned that the last Netherlands vehicle will be delivered in February 2018.

No way, De Britten zeggen bij voorbaat dat ze niet willen.
De Fransen zeggen altijd te willen samenwerken en als het niet Frans genoeg wordt stappen ze er pas uit. Ook al zijn hun eigen aangeleverde prototypen inferieur... dan worden het die.

De Fransen hebben alleen in het begin even rondgekeken, maar zagen dit project veel te complex worden en te licht bewapend, vandaar dat ze de VBCI zijn gaan bouwen, zonder module gedoe en mét kanon. Niet te vergeten dat ze al tientallen van die dingen hadden gebouwd toen de Duitsers eindelijk hun eerste voertuig geleverd kregen. De Britten zijn pas jaren later uitgestapt, toen zaten wij al in het project, en hebben toen eea van hun materieel geupgrade, en kwamen een paar jaar later met FRES op de proppen, wat ook tergend traag verloopt.

De Britten kiezen idd van te voren al of ze het willen of niet (soms ook achteraf pas), maar daarentegen stappen de Fransen meestal mee in een project tot ze het niet goed genoeg achten naar hun eigen eisen

Word de Boxer een export succes?
Zullen de Britten en Fransen wel een beetje verdrietig om gaan worden na het verlaten van het project.
