https://www.defensie.nl/organisatie/landmacht/materieel/vliegtuigen-en-helikopters

https://defence-blog.com/news/u-s-navy-awards-insitu-multi-year-contract-for-rq-21a-blackjack-production.html

Under the contract, potentially worth $390,3 million, also provides for up to six RQ-21A unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) and up to 17 RQ-21A air vehicles for foreign military sales (FMS) customers, including the governments of Canada, Poland and Oman.

Netherlands Ministry of Defence Selects Insitu Integrator

BINGEN, Wash., June 1, 2017 – The Netherlands Ministry of Defence (NMOD) has awarded the Short Range Tactical UAV (SRTUAV) contract to Insitu for its proposed Integrator offering. The baseline offering is for three Insitu Integrator systems that will replace the ScanEagle systems currently in use by the NMOD defence forces, which have been in service since 2012.

Integrator is a multi-mission, long-endurance unmanned aircraft system (UAS) that carries custom payloads for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The system was designed to be a modular, flexible and multi-mission capable solution for land and maritime operations including force protection, target acquisition and battle damage assessment. The air vehicle has a payload capacity of 18 kg (40 lb) and supports an evolving set of sensors, delivers line-of-sight communications up to 55 nautical miles, and is supported by runway-independent launch and recovery systems. Integrator is controlled by ICOMC2, which enables one operator to control multiple unmanned vehicles from a single workstation. It is the baseline aircraft for the RQ-21A Blackjack, a program of record with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps that achieved full rate production in the fall of 2016.

"Whether the mission is to support boots on the ground or increase safety in commercial marketplaces, our team is dedicated to providing our customers with the solutions they need to make critical decisions," said Ryan M. Hartman, Insitu president and CEO. "We are proud to continue to support the Royal defence forces with the capabilities they need to ensure security for the Netherlands and their global allies."

NMOD defence forces will receive their Integrator systems beginning in 2018.

19 September 2014
It was also announced that an unspecified number of the newest generation of tactical unmanned ISR systems would be bought. No specific type was mentioned but IHS Jane's understands the armed forces are interested in acquiring more of the Boeing Insitu ScanEagle systems, a small number of which was ordered in 2012. Experience with these unmanned systems was built up, among other army employments, flying from landing platform docks in support of anti-piracy operations around Somalia.

2d3 Sensing To Upgrade Dutch Army's ScanEagle UAS Motion Imagery Capability

2d3 Ltd has won a contract from the Netherlands MOD yesterday to upgrade the ScanEagle UAS motion imagery exploitation capability.

The contract is for the delivery of two identical exploitation suites for use with the Insitu ScanEagle systems in service with the Dutch Army.

The project consists of delivering updated FMV (full motion video) PED (processing, exploitation, and dissemination) software and integrating it with the existing capability delivered by the ScanEagle manufacturer, Insitu.

Each integrated suite will run 2d3 Sensing's Catalina and TacitView software, allowing analysts to create a metadata-based catalogue of the imagery archive and to rapidly exploit live feeds of video data that enable enhanced and faster support to decision makers.

The Catalina motion imagery catalogue and archive capability will improve the quantity of data the unit can retain and significantly reduce the time to retrieve data from archive for further analysis.

The modular TacitView motion imagery exploitation solution has been tailored to the specific workflow needs of each analyst in the ground segment, ensuring efficiency in their intelligence production task, but also reducing overall system costs and complexity.

This procurement is to support an urgent operational requirement to enhance a capability deployed by The Netherlands MOD to support UN operations in Mali.

Scan eagle is/was een tussen oplossing.

Poleme

IDEX 2015: Insitu demonstrates INTEGRATOR

A subsidiary of Boeing, Insitu is present at both IDEX and UMEX, flying live demonstrations with the new INTEGRATOR at the Tarif airstrip as part of the latter. Building on experience it has gained with the widely acclaimed SCAN EAGLE platform, the larger INTEGRATOR has an reconfigurable internal bay, hereby offering a total of six payload spaces that can accommodate a wide range of sensors. The INTEGRATOR can take the EO900 imager that is also available for SCAN EAGLE and which offers a staggering 170X optical zoom. INTEGRATOR uses S, L, C band bandwidth to stream full motion video to a ground station, achieving a range of 50 to 75 miles when operating at cruise altitude, assuming that line of sight is maintained.

While displaying scale models in the US pavilion, Insitu demonstrated the INTEGRATOR at the Tarif airstrip during a live fly demo, impressing local dignitaries with the ease with which the aircraft is launched and retrieved. The company's patented SKYHOOK system is capable of retrieving Insitu's range of advanced UAVs in a very short period of time, hereby limiting interference with other possible flight operations. This comes in handy when operating from navy frigates, destroyers which also carry shipborne helicopters. The SKYHOOK is also compatible with small craft and Insitu officials indicated the system has even demostrated to be capable of being operated from small SOF riverine craft. In addition, flight safety is enhanced as the air vehicle approaches the ship from its flanks, moving away from the ship if an emergency were to happen unlike naval helicopters.

Forming the basis of the United States Marine Corps' RQ-21A BLACKJACK or Small Tactical UAS programme of record, INTEGRATOR has attracted a lot of attention from potential customers such as the Netherlands that are seeking a follow on system to the SCAN EAGLE UAS that are in use. Integrator is compatible with Scan Eagle's heavy launcher and retrieval system which would bring down costs.

Company officials would not comment on individual customers, however, they acknowledged that their unmanned solutions are used in the GCC region. It has also emerged, that Insitu is one of the contenders for a 50 aircraft requirement for the Indian Navy, which would be the equivalent of approximately 15 systems.

PATUXENT RIVER, Md. --- The Navy and Marine Corps' newest small unmanned aircraft system RQ-21A Blackjack began its initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) in early January at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif.

As part of IOT&E, this first low-rate initial production (LRIP) lot of the Blackjack, previously known as RQ-21A Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (STUAS), will demonstrate the system's effectiveness and suitability in realistic combat conditions.

"Receiving the first production-level Blackjack is a great accomplishment for our government and industry team," said Col. James Rector, program manager for the Navy and Marine Corps STUAS program office, who oversees the RQ-21A program. "It is a very capable system that will meet the needs of our warfighters deployed on land or at sea with our Marine expeditionary units."

The Insitu Inc.-built Blackjack is a larger twin-tailed follow-on to the ScanEagle unmanned air vehicle. The system contains five air vehicles, two ground control systems, and launch and recovery equipment.

Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 1 is conducting ground and shipboard testing on Blackjack for the next several months. After completing IOT&E, the government and Insitu team will transition the system to Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron (VMU) 2, located at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C. for operational use. A second LRIP lot, consisting of one system, is scheduled for delivery in the spring.

Lt. Col. Anthony Bolden, commanding officer for VMU-2, said the myriad of capabilities that come with the introduction of Blackjack will provide the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) with a platform that has the payload and persistence to significantly enhance situational awareness.

"RQ-21A brings a new level of flexibility and expeditionary capability not present in any UAS to date," Bolden said. "As a result, having and operating the Blackjack will posture the Marine UAV squadrons at the forefront of MAGTF operations."

At eight feet long and with a wingspan of 16 feet, Blackjack provides intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and communications relay to the warfighter on land and at sea. The air vehicle's open-architecture configuration can integrate new payloads quickly and can carry sensor payloads as heavy as 25 pounds.

Standard payloads include day and night full-motion video cameras, an infrared marker, a laser range finder, a communications relay package and automatic identification system receivers.

ScanEagle will provide the MOD an ISR capability during the second half of 2012, replacing a program that ended in the middle of 2011.  Looking forward, Netherlands MOD and Insitu plan to continue to explore the potential for multi-mission ISR capabilities using a next-generation Insitu UAS that carries multiple ISR sensors and enables rapid, robust payload integration.

Dutch buy ScanEagle services, but look to Integrator

March 19/12: Dutch contract. Insitu announces a contract with the Dutch MvD to use its ScanEagle "both domestically and abroad." Specifically, they'll provide:

"...an ISR capability during the second half of 2012, replacing a program that ended in the middle of 2011. Looking forward, Netherlands MOD and Insitu plan to continue to explore the potential for multi-mission ISR capabilities using a next-generation Insitu UAS that carries multiple ISR sensors and enables rapid, robust payload integration."

Which is to say, their RQ-21A Integrator platform.
