Er is wel een kans natuurlijk, ik sta ook niet raar te kijken als ze 4 Avenger klasse MCM's overkopen van de USN.

The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued a request for information (RFI) intending to lease or procure three to four Mine Countermeasure Vessels (MMCV) from a foreign government for the Indian Navy.

The RFI calls for the MCMVs to be capable to locate, classify and neutralize all types of ground and moored mines, mine laying, channel conditioning, route survey, sanitization, Local Naval Defence, Search & Rescue, MIO (Maritime Interdiction Operations) and VBSS (Visit Board Search and Seize) Ops.

The Indian Government required three to four units to be procured or leased, whose first vessel should be delivered in a maximum 10 months delay. The others will follow by delivery every 4 months.

The RFI is intended to be concluded with a Government to Government Agreement for the following options:

Procurement of in service/ decommissioned MCMVs which can be retrofitted to Indian Navy requirements.
Lease of in service/ decommissioned MCMVs, which can be retrofitted to Indian Navy requirements for 10 yrs extendable to 15 yrs with an option of acquiring the asset at the end of lease period at a price agreed at the beginning of the lease.
Regarding the specifications required, the ships should be capable of sustaining its mission for at least 10 days at economical speed (12-14 knots). MMCVs should be able to embark light weight 20/30 mm anti-surface NSG, two 12.7 mm SRCGs and very short range air defence system. In terms of sensors, ships are to be fitted with a hull mounted sonar and a SSS for mine detection and classification. Finally, about mine warfare capability, vessels will feature system capable of launching, recovering and guiding Expendable and/or Reusable Mine Identification & Disposal Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)/Propelled Variable Depth Sonar (PVDS) able to operate in autonomous, semi-autonomous, supervised or in tethered mode, and capable of operating in wide range of depth from shallow to deep waters and have extended endurance.

The MCMV need is urgent in India. INS Kozhikode, a Pondicherry-class minesweeper built for the Indian Navy by the Soviet Union, was the last remaining active minesweeper but it was decommissioned on 13 April 2019. Since then, the Indian Navy is left with no dedicated mine warfare vessel in its fleet.

The Royal Navy just decommissioned two Sandown-class minehunters. Blyth and Ramsey, however, are set to be transferred to the Ukrainian Navy. Five Sandown-class vessels remain in service with the Royal Navy.

The Belgian Navy and Royal Netherlands Navy are currently involved in a MCM replacement program (rMCM). But the calendar wont' match the Indian Navy requirement: The first Belgian Navy Tripartite-class MCM vessels is set to be decommissioned two years from now, in 2023.

The Russian Navy is also modernizing its mine warfare capabilities with the Alexandrite-class (project 12700) mine counter measure vessel. The second-hand MCM vessels that India seeks may therefore come from Russia. The Indian Navy is a former operator of the Natya class (Project 266M). 12 ships were built for the Indian Navy in two batches between 1978 and 1988. Known as the Pondicherry-class minesweeper in Indian service, the ship design was modified to Indian specifications. All have since been decommissioned.

DSCA approves sale of SM-6 and SM-2 IIIC missiles to Australia

According to information published by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency on August 25, 2021, the State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Australia of Defense Services Related to Future Standard Missile Production and related equipment for an estimated cost of $350 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale.

The Government of Australia has requested to buy defense services related to the future purchase of Standard Missile 6 Block I (SM-6) and Standard Missile 2 Block IIIC (SM-2 IIIC) missiles. These services include development; engineering, integration, and testing (EI&T); obsolescence engineering activities required to ensure readiness; U.S. Government and contractor engineering/technical assistance, and related studies and analysis support; technical and logistics support services; and other related elements of program and logistical support. The total estimated value is $350 million.

This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States. Australia is one of our most important allies in the Western Pacific. Australia is strategically positioned to contribute significantly to ensuring peace and economic stability in the region. It is vital to the U.S. national interest to assist our ally in developing and maintaining a strong and ready self-defense capability.

The proposed sale will support the readiness and future sale of vital anti-air warfare capability that can be deployed from Australia's newest Hunter-Class Destroyers equipped with the latest AEGIS Combat Systems. The purchase of Standard Missile 6 Block I (SM-6) and Standard Missile 2 Block IIIC (SM-2 IIIC) missiles is currently included in Australia's procurement roadmap and will improve their ability to operate alongside U.S. and Allied naval forces against the full spectrum of naval threats. Australia will have no difficulty absorbing these defense services into its armed forces.

The principal U.S. contractor will be Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD), Tucson, AZ.

The SM-6 also called RIM-174 Standard Extended Range Active Missile (ERAM) designed to provide capability against fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, anti-ship cruise missiles in flight, both over sea and land, and terminal ballistic missile defense. It can also be used as a high-speed anti-ship missile. The SM-6 missile has a length of 6.6m and a diameter of 0.5m. It weighs 1,500 kg and carries a 64 kg blast fragmentation warhead. The interceptor uses semi-active homing and active homing guidance to achieve accurate engagement of the assigned targets. The missile has an estimated range of 250 nautical miles (463 km).

Inderdaad, nou laat Damen die Griekse fregatten maar bouwen hoor! Dan leveren we na deze 4 schepen gewoon de 4 LCF's als tweede interim oplossing voor 4 nieuwe SIGMA based AAW fregatten/destroyers 

Ik twijfel of ik het goed zie maar ik vind die brug/opbouw heel erg sterk overeenkomen met de Chinese Type 055 destroyers. Je zou bijna denken dat de Chinezen hier een vinger in de Turkse pap hebben.

Saab Leads the OCEAN2020 Baltic Sea Live Demonstration ( NL ook nog aanwezig ?)

Saab is leading a live demonstration as part of the EU-funded OCEAN2020 defence research project. The demonstration is being held in the Baltic Sea in August 2021, with the participation of 17 European companies, research institutes and defence ministries.

Indonesië geeft de trimaran serie schepen nog een kans met de nieuwe KRI Golok (688). Het eerste schip uit de klasse brandde enkele jaren geleden (2012) af voor dat het operationeel was. Deze nieuwe is bijna identiek aan de voorganger met een lengte van 60 m en een gewicht van 200  ton. Het plan is om het schip uit te rusten met een Type 730 CIWS en 4 anti-scheepsraketten.

A major overhaul of the Defence Department is looming as government frustration grows over delays and cost blowouts associated with Australia's multi-billion-dollar naval shipbuilding projects. The ABC has learnt a $3 million review by international firm Boston Consulting Group urging sweeping changes to how programs are managed has been handed to the federal government. Every major Australian naval shipbuilding project is now considered to be running late, including the $90 billion future submarines project and the $45 billion development of a fleet of Hunter-class frigates. Even the relatively simpler and smaller project to construct a $4 billion fleet of offshore patrol vessels is behind schedule.

Bij Damen weet men heus wel wanneer men wel of geen tijd moeten besteden bij een aanbesteding, de Poolse aanbesteding zal wel net zo corrupt als de Roemeense aanbesteding.

Daar heb ik 100% vertrouwen in maar het blijft jammer voor de NL industrie dat we (weer) geen nieuw project binnen slepen  Damen heeft haar lesje wel geleerd bij o.a. Vietnam waar ze na ruim 4 jaar onderhandelen continu bleven veranderen aan de wensen/eisen/budgetten.

Er is geen ruchtbaarheid aan gegeven, maar afgelopen weekend is HNLMS Friesland op de bezoek geweest in Gdynnia.

Wie weet, het tweede SIGMA ontwerp dat ik hieronder geplaatst heb is meer een OPV dan een fregat. (Een deel van) de OPV's voor een zacht prijsje slijten aan de Polen is misschien helemaal geen verkeerd plan. Indien we er zelf natuurlijk wel iets voor terug krijgen in de vorm van andere fregatten/ schepen.
