Is er iets bekend over de systemen waar defensie (mogelijk) naar kijkt?

De Noren hebben de NASAMS 3 en de AMRAAM-ER onder beproeving maar er zijn natuurlijk ook andere mogelijkheden zoals het MEADS.

En als ze ermee weg komen, heeft die Engelse ambassadeur toch gelijk!!!!

Toch weer typisch van de yanks om Norwegian te vervangen door National.  En Raytheon als hoofd contractor te zetten ipv Koningsberg dat het systeem ontwikkeld heeft.
Ze liegen niet het is alleen iets minder waar.

WASHINGTON, July 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) announced it was awarded two direct commercial sales contracts by the State of Qatar for additional integrated air and missile defense capability. The contracts, worth approximately $2.2 billion, include the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, final certification of the AMRAAM®-Extended Range missile, and an unspecified quantity of additional Patriot™ fire units. These awards are part of a larger agreement being pursued by the Qataris with the U.S. government. The combined value is expected to total up to $3B.

Qatar is the first country to procure AMRAAM-ER, the surface-to-air extended-range variant of the combat-proven AMRAAM  air-to-air-missile. Qatar also becomes the 11th country to procure NASAMS, a medium-range air-defense solution manufactured by Raytheon and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS. NASAMS uses the Raytheon Sentinel radar, and fires multiple interceptors, including AMRAAM-ER.

The combat-proven Patriot™ system is the backbone of air and missile defense for 16 nations.

Volgens mij niet. Schotje voor de boeg; ESSM Block 2 als vervanger van de AMRAAM in NASAMS? 

Ik vind het best, als die verouderde AMRAAM varianten die we nu hebben maar snel vervangen worden. Maakt me dan niet heel veel uit wat het is.

Dubai Airshow 2015: Raytheon's AMRAAM-ER Enhances NASAMS    ( extended-range -versie voor NASAMS )

How do you turn an air-to-air missile into an even more robust solution for ground-based air defence? Give it longer reach and integrate it into a proven air defense system, according to Raytheon.

Raytheon recently completed extensive lab testing on a new extended range variant of the combat-proven Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM). The tests validate that extended range AMRAAM-ER can be integrated and employed from the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS).

"AMRAAM-ER significantly expands the capability of our NASAMS ground-based air defence system. The new surface-launched missile will have a longer range and higher speed than the current AMRAAM,"  Mike Jarrett, Raytheon vice president of Air Warfare Systems, said. "By leveraging components from existing weapons programs, Raytheon is on a fast track to deliver AMRAAM-ER affordably and with very low risk."

Designed specifically for ground-based air defence, the AMRAAM-ER missile will be fielded as part of NASAMS. Along with Raytheon's AN/MPQ-64 F1 SENTINEL radar and Kongsberg's Fire Distribution Centre and canister launcher, the system will provide increased protection in the medium range air defence market.
