Russen willen kleine onderzeeboten gaan exporteren naar landen in afrika en zuid-amerika.

Fijn.... nog meer landen die wie in de (kustwateren) kunnen tegen komen. (de Chinezen dumpen relatief goedkope en kleine(re) boten in Azië).

En wij bestellen dit jaar met enige mazzel wél 2 ASW schepen.

Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) and the Republic of Singapore Navy started construction of the Type 218SG Batch 2 submarines during a steel cuting ceremony at the HDW shipyard in Kiel.

Singapore's Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) announced last year during the IMDEX Asia 2017 exhibition that it was procuring two more Type 218SG submarines. The MINDEF has signed a contract with TKMS which includes a logistics package and a crew training arrangement in Germany as well.

The new submarines are part of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s approach to long-term capability development. Tailored to meet the RSN's unique operational requirements, the Type 218SG submarines incorporate design innovation and advanced maintenance and engineering concepts to optimise training, operation and maintenance costs. They will also be equipped with significantly improved capabilities like modern combat systems and air-independent propulsion systems.

The RSN is making good progress in the submarine programme. The first two Type 218SG submarines, which were acquired in 2013, have commenced construction following their steel-cutting in 2014. They are projected for delivery in 2021 and 2022. The third and fourth Type 218SG SSKs are set to be handed over from 2024.

The Type 218SG is based on TKMS' Type 214 design. According to TKMS, the Type 218SG design has a length of approximately 70 meters, a diameter of 6.3 meters, a surface displacement of 2,000 tons and a crew complement of 28 sailors.

An RSN statement said:
Last Friday, we began construction of our third and fourth Type 218SG submarines at a steel-cutting ceremony.

The Type 218SG submarines will have longer endurance, better sensors and pack a greater punch as well as other state-of-the-art capabilities - all designed to achieve higher combat effectiveness in our unique operating environment.

They will form the RSN's next-generation submarine force.

Voilla nadat de Vwalrus erdoor is(minstens 4 en echte vervangers)10 van deze Swordfishes pls,en 't begint alweer wat te worden,naast de nieuwe fergatten(minstens 4)en mijnenvegers natuurlijk.Die AOR er nog bij,alles weer in opperste staat van gereedheid,en ik zal voor wat betreft de KM voorlopig goedkeurend knikken.

Vreet gewoon het hele marinebudget op. In Rusland hetzelfde met de Severodinsk (Yasen-klasse). Tegenwoordig worden ze als nuclair triad buiten het marine budget gelaten maar toch. Ik vermoed dat deze absurde kostenstijgingen ook in China gaande zijn maar dat lezen we nergens.

Als je de prestaties afzet tegenover aantallen snap je gelijk waarom.
Technisch was het allemaal zo slecht nog niet. Tactisch hield niet over (Noorwegen-campagne 40, uitval van de Scharnhorst 43) en technisch beter zijn als je de aantallen niet hebt ( Bismark 40) geeft ook geen goede resultaten.
Beetje als wat jij betoogde, enige tijd geleden, over Pzkfw V e VI vs de IV.
Kwantiteit is....
Wat ze met subs wél hadden. Tot 1943 omdat toen het technische voordeel van de geallieerden ook nog eens in aantallen kwam.

Mwah... in WW2 was wat ze hadden niet slecht maar (gelukkig) vooral te weinig.
Wel de strategisch gelegen havens, niet de benodigde aantallen. Lag in WW1 precies andersom e toen waren de BB's van de Duitsers beter dan die van de Butsen.

Nou..nee de prestaties van de Duitse vloot was niet al te fantastisch tijdens ww2 met wat uitzonderingen van huzarenstukjes door de kriegsmarine. Maar als je het materieel allemaal naast elkaar zet ( GB,JP,VS,ITA,FR) dan was het allemaal niet zo fantastisch. De verhalen zijn dat wel.

Laat de Duitsers op militair materieel gebied zich voornamelijk bezig houden met landmachttoppers.

According to The National Interest, three submarines should be ready for duty by mid-2018, with possibly a fourth that fall. That fourth submarine might be a moot point, however: the German Navy only has three trained submarine crews for six submarines. It's clear Germany's submarine trouble is only a symptom of a larger trend.
