Extra CV90?s wordt steeds interessanter voor NL. Met het nauwelijks in gebruik zijn van MBT?s zou het ook logisch zijn om genie voertuigen op CV90 onderstellen te gebruiken. Evt ook voor het vervangen van de BARV?s van het korps mariniers.

Misschien gezien ook ons te kortschieten volgens de NAVO rapportering, een extra investering is slagkracht door uitbreiding van ons CV90 bestand met extra CV90-35NL's , maar ook bijvoorbeeld de mortier variant.
En door het gebrek aan MBT's algemeen en ook de productie van nieuwe Leo's, (nu op dit moment en ook in de komende jaren) misschien moet NL dan wel investeringen in de CV90-120 variant als versterking van de infant. en mech. eenheden voor vuursteun, welke zowel de 13x als 43 kan ondersteunen.

NL heeft zich flink in de nesten gewerkt door de verkoop van de Leo2's en CV90's. NL heeft niet alleen zichzelf in de voet geschoten, maar eigenlijk zijn voet geamputeerd en kan nu maar beperkt en traag ingezet worden, en kan nu geen flinke schop/trap uitdelen.

Norway plans on further increasing land capabilities through the acquisition of additional Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) ahead of the army standing up a fourth mechanized battalion, though it?s unclear exactly what type of vehicle that will be.

?Rather than simply ordering more CV-90 IFVs [already operated by Norway] the government will conduct groundwork to assess whether other options are best or buy additional CV-90s,? said the NDMA spokesperson.

The government is expected to make a recommendation on ?how to move forward? with the IFV program before the end of the year, with a procurement phase potentially starting at the end of 2024, confirmed the spokesperson.

Als ik zo lees was CV90 eigenlijk de 1e keus, maar BAE mocht de deal niet krijgen, koste wat het kost....   

En dat allemaal vanwege de slechte afloop met de MRA4 Nimrod. BAE had voor de Britten ook een goede CV90 verkenningsvariant kunnen leveren.

But personnel apart, why did the government choose General Dynamics (UK) in the first place?

The firm was chosen to provide 589 armoured vehicles to the Army. Ajax is the company?s biggest project and the UK government is its biggest client. In 2018, the company reported a total operating profit of ?89.1 million from a turnover of ?736 million ? of which ?509 million was revenue directly generated by Ajax.

The accounts for that year were signed by another former senior Army officer, Lieutenant General Andrew Figgures. He became a director of General Dynamics (UK) after retiring from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

Here we come to the second issue in the decision-making process.

According to defence sources, the Ajax?s problems can be traced to the Army?s insistence on having the company?s armoured vehicle rather than BAe?s CV90.

In contrast to the Ajax, the CV90 has been introduced into service with armies across the world.

A source told the Mail the MoD wanted to ?punish? BAE for the failure of the MRA4 Nimrod programme ? the ministry ordered 21 ?maritime reconnaissance and attack? aircraft from BAe but after delays and hitches the programme was scrapped with losses exceeding ?4billion.

?Anyone but BAe?, was the mantra. And when the choice of Ajax was challenged by the MoD?s procurement scrutiny committee, the Army ?blustered it through?, according to sources.
