Best interessant

Weinig declinatie t.o.v elevatie.  Lijkt erop alsof mogelijkheid t.b.v. indirect vuren (artillerie functie) is meegenomen. Er zijn weinig situaties dat je ergens wilt zijn waar zo'n hoek nodig is.

Niet voor tanks maar universeel NAVO breed ongeacht type wapensysteem staat LFX voor Life Fire Exercise

Ik hoop ook nog steeds op materiaal waar men uitgebreid op de gevechtscapaciteiten etc in gaat.

Merkava 5 Barak MBT to be delibered to Israeli army in 2023

According to a tweet of Junsupreme on August 20, confirming what Army Recognition published last 21 March, Merkava Mk.5 main battle tank, known as Barak, will be delivered to Israeli Defense Force's Armored Brigade in 2023.



Israel Defense Force's next-generation tank, Merkava Mark 5 dubbed "Barak" (or "lightning" in Hebrew)will enter initial service in the Armored Corps within a year, Walla reported on March 17.

The tank will have an upgraded Trophy active protection system (APS) to counter the most advanced anti-tank missiles, made by Rafael; a 360-degree camera coverage for day and night views, and boosted situational awareness; and a head-up display for the tank commander, similar to that of a fighter jet pilot.

The tank will also include new sensors enabling it to independently acquire targets and strike them rapidly, as well as deploy electronic-warfare capabilities and advanced processing systems. Many of the new capabilities have been outlined in the Defense Ministry's Carmel next-generation fighting vehicle program, which was awarded to Israel Aerospace Industries in October 2021.

Notice that the latest version in the Merkava family – the Merkava 4 Windbreaker – is already equipped with the Trophy APS (Active Protection System) that protects the tank from a wide variety of threats ranging from rockets, ATGMs and platform-fired High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) rounds. Trophy offers 360° protection in azimuth, as well as extensive elevation coverage while maintaining a pre-defined safety zone for friendly troops on the ground. The neutralization process is initiated only if the threat is about to hit the vehicle.

At the IDF Headquarters, an advisory team was set up after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine to learn from the war.

Poland to receive 250 advanced Abrams tanks under $1 billion contract

The award caps off a year-long effort by Poland to sign a contract for the newest version of the Abrams tank, an effort that began as Russia amassed troops on Ukraine's border.

The US Army has officially inked the long-awaited contract with General Dynamics Land Systems to send the most advanced version of its Abrams tank to Poland, the service announced today.

GDLS, the prime Abrams manufacturer, will deliver 250 M1A2 System Enhancement Program version 3 (SEPv3) Abrams tanks to the Polish army under a $1.15 billion contract, capping off a year-long push by the NATO ally to buy the tanks. The announcement comes as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which borders Poland to the southeast, enters its sixth month.

"NATO's strength lies in its unity, which has never been greater than it is today," said Doug Bush, assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology, in a statement. "This award is an example of the Army's continuing work with our industry partners to increase production of critical military equipment capabilities to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our partners and allies."

The contract was signed in late July, according to the Army announcement, after Poland formally requested the tanks in July 2021. Delivery of the SEPv3 Abrams tanks will begin in January 2025, the release states. The Polish army intends to integrate the Abrams into its 18th Mechanized Division, according to an Aug. 10 Army announcement.

he State Department cleared the sale to Poland in February, just days ahead of Russia's invasion of its neighbor, as part of a larger $6 billion package that included counter-IED systems, hundreds of machine guns, 26 M88 recovery vehicles, 17 Joint Assault Bridges and other military systems. State came under pressure from congressional Republicans to approve the deal in the midst of Russia's military build-up on the Ukrainian border, arguing that strengthening the NATO ally with the US's most advanced tank would send a message to Russia.
