Heel jammer...het ondermijnt mijns inziens niet alleen de Europese samenwerking, maar ook de relatie met Rusland.

Rotating.... zal tzt wel permanent worden, en na de vervanging van de Amerikaanse F16 door de F35A slaan de Amerikanen 2 vliegen in één klap...

1. Polen als F35 kandidaat
2. Vrijwel op de grens met Rusland een sqn (of meer) stealth vliegtuigen.

Het Kremlin zal niet blij zijn...

Onderdeel luchtmacht VS naar Polen

De Verenigde Staten stationeren een onderdeel van hun luchtmacht in Polen. President Obama zal dat vandaag aan de Poolse regering beloven, zegt het Witte Huis. De luchtmacht gaat Poolse piloten trainen in het gebruik van gevechts- en transportvliegtuigen.

Polen wil graag lid worden van de NAVO. Dat is tegen de zin van Rusland, dat bang is voor te veel westerse invloed.

Obama begon gisteren aan een tweedaags bezoek aan Polen. In Warschau legde hij een krans bij het graf van de onbekende soldaat en bezocht hij een overblijfsel van het Joodse getto uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

WARSAW - U.S. F-16 fighter jets and Hercules transport aircraft will be deployed in Poland on a rotating basis while a U.S. aviation detachment will be permanently stationed there, a senior U.S. adviser said May 27 as President Obama arrived in the country.

"We are going to announce tomorrow the conclusion of the agreement to establish an aviation detachment in Poland that will allow for our two air forces to cooperate in training the Poles to utilize the American aircraft that they purchased, F-16 and (Hercules) C-130," Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, a senior adviser for European affairs on the National Security Council told reporters. "What we will be doing is rotating trainers and aircraft to Poland so that they can become more interoperable with NATO. This will be a small permanent presence on the ground and a permanent presence that will be rotational."

Ahead of the visit, officials in Warsaw had expressed hope it would bring a deal for the permanent stationing of a U.S. Air Force technical ground crew at a Polish F-16 base, as well as training rotations of U.S. F-16 fighters and Hercules transport aircraft as of 2013.

Last year saw the first three rotations of unarmed training batteries of U.S. Patriot missiles in Poland, a move that also sparked Russia's ire. Four rotations are planned this year.

Onwenselijke ontwikkeling vind ik dit....maar weer slim door de Amerikanen uitgespeeld...in de verdeel-en-heers politiek om de EU militair zwak en verdeeld te houden en de door haar geleide en gedomineerde NAVO leidend en bepalend...heel slim. En nog genoeg "oude" en nu "nieuwe" Atlantici die graag willen helpen en faciliteren daarbij. Natuurlijk zijn wat mij betreft de Amerikanen altijd welkom om te komen oefenen e.d....maar de tijd van Amerikaanse aanwezigheid en een dominante vinger in het Europese defensiebeleid-pap is wat mij betreft een aflopende zaak. Hoe goed ik ook begrijp dat de Amerikanen zelf en Atlantici in Europa dat (nog steeds) graag anders zien....en het graag houden bij het oude...Helaas voor hen, maar de Koude Oorlog is al wat jaren voorbij. Welcome in the new world.

The United States will station F-16 jet fighters and Hercules transport planes in Poland as of 2013, announced Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich.
Klich said Poland has decided to accept an US offer for the rotating stationing of F-16s and Hercules planes on its territory, reported BGNES citing radio TOK FM.
The US planes will be taking part in joint drills together with the Polish Air Force, and will be returning to the US.
According to Klich, the presence of the US military planes in Poland will be similar to the stationing of the American Patriot missiles that were placed on Polish territory earlier in 2010.
Poland, which is traditionally seeking ways to balance its location between Russia and Germany, has drown even closer to the United States with respect to defense coopeartion.
