State clears Dutch Apache upgrades

The State Department on Tuesday cleared the potential sale of Apache helicopter upgrades to the Netherlands ....

The Dutch sale represents the largest portion of that potential figure, at an estimated cost of almost $1.2 billion to upgrade and remanufacture 28 AH-64D Block II Apache Attack Helicopters to the AH-64E configuration.

Had ik ook in ander topic gezet, maar gezien dat deze beter de lading dekt, hier nog een keer geplaatst

Het gaat dus om een upgrade van 28 stuks Apache's

en idd ... eindelijk de Long Bow Radar ..

Omdat ik geen topic kon vinden over de aankomende MLU  van onze Apache's hierbij een nieuw topic.

Het meest interessante vind ik de 17 AN/APG-78 Fire Control Radars (Longbow), na jaren van jaloers kijken krijgt ook Nederland eindelijk de Longbow radar voor een deel van de Apache's zoals het er nu uit gaat zien.

Onze AH64D's zijn net opgewaardeerd naar Block II. Voorheen bestond de "Echo" nog niet, dit was Block III. Uiteindelijke bracht Block III zoveel veranderingen met zich mee dat het de Echo designatie kreeg.

Naast de FCR's is het aantal motoren ook opvallend:

Upgrading fifty-one (51) remaining T700-GE-701C Engines to T700-GE-701D (42 engines to be installed, 9 spares)

42 geinstaleerd, dat is dus 21 van de 28 kisten.

Netherlands – AH-64E Remanufactured Apache Attack Helicopters

WASHINGTON, FEB. 20, 2018 - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Netherlands of items and services to support the upgrade/remanufacture of AH-64D Block II Apache Attack Helicopters to the AH-64E configuration for an estimated cost of $1.191 billion.  The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.
