Ukraine intends to buy Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles from BAE Systems.

The information was shared by the CZDefence publication. We are talking about the purchase of 1,000 vehicles. The project will be implemented jointly with the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Unfortunately, no details of the delivery of the equipment are available yet. By the way, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov has already signed a declaration on cooperation with his counterparts.

De Russische papieren waarheid kunnen we allang niet meer vertrouwen. Alles kan minder en is kwalitatief minder goed. Vervolgens is het bemand met inferieur getraind personeel. Ik geloof pas dat die BMP-3 al die mooie dingen kan als ik het de Oekra?ners zie doen. (En zelfs dan is de vraag: kon het voertuig het origineel of hebben de Oekra?ners zelf zitten klussen?)

In principe moet een BMP-3 prima zijn mannetje kunnen staan. Ook gestabiliseerde kanonnen, zelfs ATGM kan rijdend worden afgeschoten met trefzekerheid. Warmbtebeeld, etc. Als we de folder moeten geloven natuurlijk.

Indien dat waar is, ligt het voornamelijk aan doctrine, training en organisatie waarom de Russen het 1 op 1 afleggen.

Units of the British Army have restarted training on the Ajax vehicle, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

Personnel will learn how to operate the armoured vehicles and their systems with training in Bovington and Bulford.

Troops will practise on the initial standard of vehicles ? Capability Drop 1 ? gaining experience and the skills before they receive the later Capability Drop 3 vehicles, which will be fully deployable.

Originally intended to enter service in 2017, Ajax has been repeatedly delayed, with problems including noise and vibration issues which saw some soldiers being medically discharged from service because of hearing loss during trials.

To ensure the vehicles are fit for purpose, reliability Growth Trials involve putting the Ajax vehicles through their paces operating across a range of speeds, firing weapons, using communications systems and completing tasks including vehicle recoveries and repairs.

The Army has received 44 Capability Drop 1 vehicles, whilst the Drop 3 is manufactured in Wales.

The Ajax programme will deliver 589 vehicles that use cutting-edge sensors, enhanced 40mm cannon, modular armour, and improved cross-country range and mobility for the UK military, according to the MOD, who says Ajax delivers a "step-change in the surveillance and reconnaissance capability".

Minister for Defence Procurement James Cartlidge said: "This is a significant moment for the British Army, marking a huge step forward for the Ajax Programme.

"The Ajax vehicles will provide a breakthrough in capability and I'm pleased to see such positive progress towards delivering a suite of battle-ready vehicles for our forces."

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Defence confirmed payments towards the ?5.5bn cost of the vehicles would resume, and the MOD says the whole programme "remains within its originally approved budget level".

Verschil tussen Bradley en CV90


Verschil KF41 Lynx en CV90

Als ik dit zo vergelijk dan is de hoogte van de Bradley en KF41 nagenoeg gelijk, waarbij de Bradley net wat hoger zal zijn denk ik.
Een BMP is dus aanmerkelijk lager. CV90 valt er tussenin.

Dat silhouet is echt belangrijk. Een T-72 op 2000 meter is de helft van de doelwit grootte dan dat van een Abrams. En hoe kleiner, hoe minder bepantsering nodig is, en dat maakt het weer een veel lichter voertuig.

Is dat over het algemeen niet een ontwerp filosofie die verschillend is tussen het westen en Rusland? Wij hebben altijd grote robuuste tanks ontwikkelt met zware bepantsering omdat wij er vanuit gingen dat wij ons eigen terrein gingen verdedigen terwijl Rusland lage tanks hebben ontwikkeld die in theorie moeilijker te raken zijn en dus minder bepantsering nodig hadden omdat ze het gevecht naar ons wilden brengen. Dus misschien is het wel belangrijk maar bepalend is het dan toch ook niet?

Er is een nieuwe variant van de Russische VPK-7829 Boomerang IFV gespot, een simpelere variant specifiek ontwikkeld om sneller te produceren i.v.m. mobilisatie.
De grootste verandering is dat alles simpeler gemaakt is dan voorheen bedacht, zo heeft de toren geen warmte beeld kijker meer.

Lijkt leuk se lynx, maar als niet veel landen dat systeem gaan gebruiken gaat dat ten koste van (door)ontwikkeling van het wapensysteem over de jaren en ook de kosten zijn dan hoog voor de gebruikers.
