Czech Republic awards BAE Systems $2.2 billion contract to acquire 246 CV90s

The Czech Republic has successfully completed negotiations with the government of Sweden, the Swedish defense procurement organization FMV, and BAE Systems H?gglunds to buy 246 CV90 MkIV infantry fighting vehicles in seven different variants.
The contract is valued at SEK 22 billion ($2.2 billion). The agreement provides highly-capable vehicles for Czech soldiers while providing Czech industry a significant role in the program.

?As the ninth member of the CV90 User Group, the Czech Republic and its Army will benefit from this combat-proven infantry fighting vehicle with a leading combination of mobility, firepower, protection, and future growth potential,? said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems H?gglunds, in ?rnsk?ldsvik, Sweden. ?This contract also represents a significant win for Czech industry that will last for decades.?

The CV90s will be developed and delivered through an industrial partnership with Czech industry to meet the requirements of the Czech Ministry of Defence and the intention of maintaining national sovereignty for the Czech Republic. The Czech industrial partners will be delivering 40% of the acquisition?s value in development, production and assembly contracts, not including VAT.

The program also offers future industrial opportunities that represent significant monetary value well beyond the flow down of contracts to Czech industrial partners. The contract will bolster the local defence sector, granting access to BAE Systems? global supply chain, expanding opportunities for cooperation, and enhancing local competitiveness.

The CV90 MkIV, the latest generation of the leading infantry fighting vehicle, is an ideal, battle-proven vehicle. CV90 has been deployed around the world in coalition operations under both NATO and UN mandates. The vehicle offers superior tactical and strategic capabilities to target a wide range of ground and airborne targets, and exceptional resilience in any terrain and tactical environment.

Ik haalde de 2 en evolution door elkaar, ik bedoelde de evo.

Geen idee maar ik vermoed dat Rheinmetall in de Fuchs Evolution techniek van de Boxter heeft geintegreerd. Ik denk dat Patria er een geduchte concurrent erbij heeft gekregen

Dat weet ik wel zeker, en als ik zo de specs vergelijk heeft de Evo een streepje voor op meerdere gebieden o.a. op gebied van bereik (100 km verschil), motor vermogen (300 Nm meer) en ook de payload capaciteit is 1000 kg meer dan bij de Patria. Ik weet alleen niet zeker of de Evo nog amfibisch is, dat is de Patria wel.

Leg uit, want er zit een MTU motor in de  Fuchs Evolution? Dit zal waarschijnlijk het zelfde type motor zijn als in de Boxter.

The TPz Fuchs from Transportpanzer Fuchs is a German armoured personnel carrier originally developed by Daimler-Benz but manufactured and further developed by the now Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV). Fuchs was the second wheeled armoured vehicle to enter service with the Bundeswehr and it can be used for tasks including troop transport, engineer transport, bomb disposal, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical reconnaissance and electronic warfare.

The FUCHS A9 is the next evolution of Rheinmetall?s combat proven and reliable 6?6 FUCHS. It features a new improved powerpack, a modern digital electrical vehicle architecture and significantly improved characteristics in mobility, protection and payload. The ?high roof? variant comes with an increased internal height of 1.60m and offers the largest possible interior volume to enable the integration of space demanding mission kits, like command posts or armoured ambulances. FUCHS Evolution 6?6 Armoured Personel Carrier

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) and its predecessors manufactured 1,236 Fuchs 1, mostly for the German Army. Further development of the design resulted in the Fuchs 2, first shown in 2001. In 2014, the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy confirmed that it had approved the transfer of production equipment to Algeria to enable this country to undertake production of the Fuchs 2. The baseline Fuchs 2 provides protection against small arms armour-piercing attack through a full 360?. To meet different threat levels the Fuchs 2 has been designed to be fitted with enhanced passive armour packages developed by IBD. These will be manufactured in Germany. The enhanced Fuchs 2 is currently in production, known customers include Algerian Army, Kuwait Army and the UAE.

Het gaat dan om de TPz Fuchs 2 en waarom zou deze nie meer mee kunnen? Misschien niet in de frontlinie maar er is ongetwijfeld wel een taak te vinden voor de voertuigen op de achtergrond.
