Kan gelanceerd worden met een MLRS, een booster met daarbovenop een small diameter bomb (GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb) welke vanaf een bepaalde hoogte via een glijvlucht naar het doel "vliegt"

Misschien iets voor onze KL in de toekomst ?

Volgens mij is dit al een aantal keer besproken op het forum, de GLSDB is al een paar jaar oud.

Boeing, Saab Unveil Ground Launched SDB

Boeing and Saab have teamed up to develop a Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) program, with three successful test launches of the new system completed last month.

The three tests, conducted at a range in Sweden, proved that the Boeing and Saab design could successfully launch a SDB weapon from the ground, sync up with GPS and guide the weapon to its target, opening up what Beth Kluba, vice president for Boeing Weapons and Missile Systems, called "all-angle, all-aspect attack."

The system essentially sticks a GBU-39B small diameter bomb, widely used by the US military and a number of international customers, on the front of a M26 rocket. The M26 is set to be demilitarized by 2018 under a set of cluster munitions treaties, meaning the GLSDB program would essentially be recycling an item that countries were planning to stockpile or scrap.

The weapon is designed to be launched out of a multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), used by a number of US allies already, avoiding the need to design a new launch system. That MLRS can hold six weapons per pod, with two pods per vehicle.

Once launched, the SDB acts as any air-launched SDB would, which means ground-based commanders now have 360-degree coverage. The weapon can do both high and low angles of attack, fly around terrain to hit targets on the back of mountains, or circle back around to attack a target behind the launch vehicle.

Range-wise, the GLSDB can hit targets 150 kilometers in front of the launcher or 70 kilometers behind it.

Elbit Systems demonstrates UAV swarm capability to Dutch Army

Elbit Systems has performed a demonstration of its UAV swarm capabilities to the Dutch Army in Northern Israel.



Elbit Systems has demonstrated its Robotic Autonomous Systems (RAS) capabilities for ISR missions utilising heterogeneous autonomous swarms to the RAS Concept Development & Experimentation programme of the Royal Netherlands Army.

The demonstration deployed swarms comprising of the PROBOT UGV and two types of vertical takeoff and landing mini UAS (VTOL mini-UAS) including the THOR, all powered by the TORCH-X RAS software suite.

During capability demonstration, different robotic pairings operated as swarms autonomously performing three types of operational missions such as planning, navigating to predefined points, allocating sectors and the performance of various ISR tasks.

The first mission used the THOR VTOL mini-UAS swarm to dominate the area of interest and deployed the PROBOT UGV to complete the intelligence picture.

In a second mission scenario, two VTOL mini-UASs were dispatched to resupply front line forces.

The third mission was an airborne deployment of Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) using two THOR VTOL mini-UASs quipped with sensor dispensers.

The demonstration highlighted the capability of the TORCH-X RAS powered solution to enable heterogeneous formations of unmanned platforms, of different makers.

Smartshooter schiet 'automatisch' drones uit de lucht

De dreiging van unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), oftewel drones, neemt snel toe. De luchtmacht detecteert vele UAS-bewegingen bij vliegvelden en vaak vormen ze een ernstige bedreiging voor onder meer het vliegverkeer. Het gebruik van het persoonlijk vuurwapen door bewakingseenheden is vooralsnog de meest reële optie tegen deze dreiging. Dit is echter niet effectief. Een state of the art-richtsysteem kan hier op termijn verandering in brengen.

De luchtmacht was al bekend met de mogelijkheden van het slimme richtsysteem 'smartshooter'. Onbekend was alleen de vraag of het ook effectief is in combinatie met het Colt C7 5.56mm-geweer op grote afstand.

Werking
Het systeem maakt gebruik van videoanalyse. Een schutter richt zijn wapen met de smartshooter op het doelwit, net als bij een gewoon richtsysteem. De schutter selecteert dan echter het doelwit door de trekker over te halen. De schutter houdt de overgehaalde trekker vast en blijft op het doel mikken. Zodra het systeem 'ziet' dat het wapen exact op het geselecteerde doelwit is gericht, vuurt het systeem 'automatisch'.

Toen de landmacht een schietdag organiseerde om te experimenteren met het smartshooter-systeem, sloot de luchtmacht aan om de effectiviteit tegen drones te testen. Er werd op geschoten op een doorsnee van de top 10 door de luchtmacht gedetecteerde UAS in Nederland.

De Colt in combinatie met het smartshooter-systeem bleek erg effectief: alle doelen werden binnen enkele schoten uitgeschakeld. De test was zo succesvol dat de luchtmacht nu zo snel mogelijk start met het aankooptraject.

Is CLAS al een tijdje mee bezig. Inmiddels zijn er nu zo'n 30 militairen opgeleid op de Smart Shooter.
Begin 2021 op Johannes Postkazerne in Havelte getest en is toen ook mee naar Oostenrijk geweest samen met die UGV's.

Ik zelf denk dat dit of een specifieke projectgroep betreft of een 'kom maar eens schieten' dag van een bezoek van LMB aan hun jaarlijkse Fort Knox oefeningen.

Marine Corps and Navy officials will test an advanced fire control system that calculates how troops can best hit their targets as part of ongoing efforts to defend against enemy drones on land and at sea, the Israeli firm that builds the system has announced.

Smart Shooter Ltd. Is the maker of the SMASH Fire Control System, which can be added to any type of military rifle, the company said in a news release.

"The Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL) evaluates candidate technologies to fill capability gaps; one of which is small, hostile drones against our front-line Marines in the close-in fight, said Jessica Hanley, a spokeswoman for Combat Development and Integration. "As a part of its market research work, the Marine Corps Rapid Capabilities Office (MCRCO) is evaluating the SMASH 2000L as a candidate solution identified for its current ability to target, track, and fire at the optimal point to eliminate small hostile drones."

The U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center's Crane Division will also test whether SMASH technology can be used to shoot down drones, the Smart Shooter news release says.

"Featuring built-in targeting algorithms that can track and hit even very small drones, SMASH fire control systems put a precision anti-drone capability at the fingertips of its users," the news release says.

Ik hoop het ook.plaats 26 van 30 voor de 17de economie van de wereld is wel heel beroert

Ik snap dat dit niet de nieuwe Defensiebegroting is die wordt gerealiseerd door een nieuw kabinet. Maar Huzaar1  je bent het toch wel met me eens dat er totaal geen gevoel van urgentie is bij de politiek als het gaat om Defensie. En dat dit niet erg geruststellend is voor de benodigde 3 tot 4 miljard. Ik zou me kunnen voorstellen dat ze over 1 regeerperiode elk jaar 750 miljoen structureel toevoegen aan de Defensiebegroting dan zit je aan het einde op 3 miljard maar dan moeten ze het einde wel halen en dan zit je nog maar op het eu gemiddelde.

We weten niet wat er speelt, het is wachten op een nieuw kabinet. Natuurlijk ben ik het met je eens maar iedereen schreeuwt en er zijn themas bijgekomen die nog urgenter zijn zoals klimaat en corona. Of we dat nu willen of niet. Ik verwacht wel iets.
