Kijk het kaliber 6.8 ....ipv 5.56 ...dus meer power en slagkracht ..ipv twee of drie keer raken ..nu gewoon 1 keer is genoeg.

Zal de trend nu keren ? ...dat er zo over een paar jaar alleen nog maar 6.8 gebruikt gaat worden ?

SIG SAUER Presents 716i TREAD

SIG SAUER introduced the 716i TREAD, a direct impingement, AR-10 platform that provides versatility for long range shooting and hunting while maintaining a lightweight design for easy carry. According to the company the 716i TREAD is easily customizable with existing TREAD branded accessories.

"The TREAD brand has gained recognition for offering premium products, at a competitive price point, that are designed, engineered and built with the same quality and innovation consumers expect from any SIG SAUER product," said Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, Commercial Sales.

"The 716i TREAD brings the power of the AR-10 platform to the TREAD series and is an exciting expansion to the line. The rifle is lightweight with premium features right out of the box, and consumers can anticipate an affordable price point."

The new 716i TREAD therefore combines the reliability of SIG's lightweight direct impingement system, paired with the customization of TREAD, chambered in 7.62 NATO.

Over wat voor aantallen hebben we het hier en voor welke eenheden?
De meeste NL eenheden die nu met DMR's werken hebben de HK417 in 7.62x51.

Kan geen andere berichten hierover vinden. Verder verwacht ik dat dit kaliber ter aanvulling is en niet als vervanging van de HK417.

6.5 mm , we volgen snel de Yanks of gewoon nieuwe NATO standaard?

6.5mm Creedmoor/6.5x51mm is nog niet toegevoegd als NATO standaard (als dat al gaat gebeuren) en vervangt ook niet kaliber 5.56x45mm. Daarvoor kijken ze in de VS eerst nog naar andere kalibers (o.a. 6.8mm SPC).
