Je zou bijna zeggen laat Nederland daar nog 2 of 4 kisten bij doen en op die manier samen met de Duitsers een MPA squadron opereren vanaf de Duitse luchtbasis.
Helemaal mee eens .

Further billions for Nordholzer Marineflieger

BY CHRISTIAN DÖSCHER  1. JUNE 2022 // 17:13

The Nordholz site apparently also benefits from the special fund for the Bundeswehr.

Another seven maritime reconnaissance aircraft are coming

According to media reports, 16.6 billion euros from the 100 billion special fund for the Bundeswehr are earmarked for the army, 19.3 billion for the navy and 40.9 billion for the air force. The project list is still confidential, but CDU member of parliament Enak Ferlemann confirms to the NORDSEE-ZEITUNG that in addition to the already approved five P-8A "Poseidon" long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft, another seven aircraft will be coming to Nordholz. On Friday, the Bundestag will vote on it. In June 2021, the budget committee of the Bundestag had approved a 1.5 billion deal with the USA. For this purpose, five Boeing aircraft of the type P-8A "Poseidon" are purchased. They replace the outdated "Orion" machines, whose marketing approval ends in 2025.

As the successor of the "Orion"

The Nordholz naval pilots have eight long-range reconnaissance aircraft that can detect and fight submarines from a great distance. In 2004, the Bundeswehr bought the "Orion" aircraft used from the Dutch Navy as a successor to the "Breguet Atlantic". From 2023, only two "Orions" would have been operational.

"This is great news for the soldiers in Nordholz and for our region. The Nordholz location is thus well positioned and secured for years to come," said the Cuxhaven politician, who was Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport from 2013 to 2021.

Delivery of final RNoAF Poseidon

PUBLISHED: 27 MAY 2022   LAST UPDATED: 27 MAY 2022

On 27 May 2022, the fifth and final Boeing P-8A Poseidon was delivered to the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA). The aircraft, serial 9586 and named "Munin", is the third that arrived in Norway. The other two Poseidons currently reside at NAS Jacksonville (FL) and will be delivered to Norway at a later stage, with the final aircraft expected in 2023. All Poseidons will be operated by 333 skvadron at Evenes.

All Poseidons have been named with long historical roots. The name "Munin" comes from Norse mythology and will continue the legacy of the Luftforsvaret (RNoAF, Royal Norwegian Air Force) Falcon 20ECM "Hugin" and "Munin" which are still in operational service today with FEKS/717 skvadron. FEKS is the Forsvarets elektroniske krigføringssenter (Armed Forces Center for Electronic Warfare).

In March 2017, Norway ordered five P-8A Maritime Multimission Aircraft (MMA) in a USD 1,2 billion Foreign Military Sale (FMS) contract. The Poseidons are purchased as a replacement for the RNoAF veteran fleet of P-3C/N Orion Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) as well as the two Dassault Falcon 20ECM surveillance aircraft.

According to the Scramble Magazine database Norway has the following Poseidons:

9582 (c/n 66110/8796), named "Vingtor", delivered in December 2021 to NAS Jacksonville
9583 (c/n 66111/8911), named "Viking", delivered in February 2022 to Evenes
9584 (c/n 66112/8949), named "Ulabrand", delivered in March 2022 to Evenes
9585 (c/n 66113/8988), named "Hugin", delivered 4 April 2022 to NAS Jacksonville
9586 (c/n 66114/9026), named "Munin", delivered 27 May 2022 to Evenes

Boeing Begins Build on New Zealand's First P-8A Aircraft

Boeing Begins Build on New Zealand's First P-8A Aircraft

WICHITA, Kan., March 17, 2022 –Boeing [NYSE: BA] P-8A team members and Spirit AeroSystems employees have laid the keel beam for New Zealand's first P-8A. This process, also called 'keeling,' was done at the Spirit AeroSystems facility where all Boeing 737 fuselages, nacelles and pylons are designed and built. Laying the keel is an important production milestone during the build of any ship or aircraft and represents the cornerstone of this latest P-8.

Rosemary Banks, New Zealand's ambassador to the United States, who was on hand to witness the keeling said, "Today's keeling ceremony is the beginning of a new era for New Zealand's maritime patrol and response capability. Our four P-8A Poseidons will better equip our defence forces to extend their reach into the Pacific and beyond, working with our partners and friends."

An aircraft keel runs the length of the fuselage belly. Due to the innovative in-line approach to the build of commercial derivative aircraft pioneered on the P-8A, the keel beam on a P-8 is different from the typical 737 keel beam. The P-8 keel includes unique aspects of the P-8 configuration, such as the integration of an internal weapons bay.

"The excitement of seeing this come together was contagious," said Brian Stuart, P-8 program manager for New Zealand.  "Not only are we kicking off the journey to the first New Zealand P-8A delivery, but we are strengthening our relationships with suppliers like Spirit as well as our U.S. Navy and Royal New Zealand Air Force customers."

The panel and other fuselage components will be completed on Spirit's existing 737 production line.  Spirit will ship the P-8A fuselage to a Boeing Commercial Airplanes facility in Renton, Washington for final assembly. After that, Boeing Defense, Space & Security employees will install mission systems and complete testing prior to delivery to New Zealand later this year.

In total, four Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft will eventually replace New Zealand's current fleet of six aging P-3K2 Orion aircraft providing advanced capabilities to maintain situational awareness in neighboring waters on and below the surface of the ocean.

The New Zealand Defence Force is a P-8 foreign military sales customer and is one of eight global customers. Current P-8 operators include the U.S. Navy, the Royal Australian Air Force, the Indian Navy, United Kingdom's Royal Air Force and Norway's Royal Norwegian Air Force.

To date, the global operating P-8 fleet has amassed more than 400,000 mishap-free flight hours. The P-8 is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral operations. In addition, the P-8 performs humanitarian and search and rescue missions around the globe.

Boeing offers P-8A to replace Canada's CP-140 patrol fleet

Boeing's offer comes as the US Navy has stopped purchasing new P-8As for the foreseeable future.

Boeing will offer the P-8A Poseidon, a long-range maritime patrol aircraft currently flown by several militaries, to the Canadian Royal Air Force as a replacement for the CP-140 Aurora aircraft, the company announced today.

The CP-140 Aurora, built and first flown by Lockheed Martin in the late 1970s, is based off the P-3 Orion. The Canadian Royal Air Force recently published a request for information to replace the Aurora with a "Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft," according to a Feb. 10 Boeing statement. The P-8 is flown by military aviators from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, Norway, South Korea and Germany.

"The range, speed, and endurance of the P-8 makes it the perfect platform to monitor Canada's northern and maritime approaches and the P-8 will ensure allied interoperability to meet Canada's security commitments. Coupled with a robust industrial partnership plan, Boeing's offer will build on its successful record of contributing to Canada's economic growth throughout the life of the CMMA program," Tim Flood, a Boeing executive, said in the statement.

UK receives final Poseidon MMA

11 JANUARY 2022

by Gareth Jennings

The United Kingdom has received its ninth and final Boeing P-8A Poseidon MRA1 maritime multimission aircraft (MMA), with ZP809 arriving at Royal Air Force (RAF) Lossiemouth in Scotland on 11 January.

The milestone brings to an end a two-year delivery run that began with the arrival of ZP801 Pride of Moray in February 2020. Since then, ZP802 City of Elgin, ZP803 Terence Bulloch DSO DFC, ZP804 Spirit of Reykjavik, ZP805 Fulmar, ZP806 Guernsey's Reply, ZP807 William Barker VC, and ZP808 have all been received. The names for ZP808 and ZP809 have not yet been announced by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

In UK service, the Poseidon is operated by 201 and 120 squadrons, with 54 Squadron serving as the operational conversion unit. Delivery of all nine Poseidon MRA1s is a major milestone in the reconstitution of the UK's airborne maritime patrol capability, which was put on hold in 2010 with the retirement of BAE Systems' Nimrod MR2 and the cancellation of its Nimrod MRA4 replacement.

Boeing Delivers First P-8A Poseidon to Norway

Aircraft is the first of five ordered by Norway and the 142nd P-8 aircraft delivered to global customers

SEATTLE, Nov. 18, 2021 – The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) today accepted the first of five Boeing [NYSE: BA] P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft that will be operated by the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF).

"Norway is responsible for large maritime areas in a strategically important part of the world, and the new P-8A Poseidon will represent a tremendous improvement in our ability to both protect our sovereignty and understand developments in these areas. Today's delivery of our first P-8A is an important milestone in the modernization of Norway's maritime patrol aircraft capability," said Mette Sørfonden, director general of the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency.  "I'm very pleased that the NDMA will soon be able to provide the Norwegian Armed Forces with a whole new generation of aircraft that will play an important role in preserving our national security for many years to come."

Norway's first P-8A aircraft, named Vingtor, was delivered to the NDMA during a ceremony at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington. The milestone comes four years after the NDMA entered into an agreement with the U.S. Navy for the P-8A, and two years before the new aircraft are scheduled to begin taking over maritime patrol duties in Norway's high north.

"We're honored to provide this unmatched, multimission maritime patrol capability to Norway," said Stu Voboril, vice president and program manager, P-8 Programs. "Norway joins seven other global customers that have selected or already operate the P-8 and benefit greatly from its long-range maritime surveillance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities. We look forward to enhancing our continued and enduring partnership with the U.S. Navy and the Royal Norwegian Air Force, and supporting the future fleet's sustainment and training needs."

Norway's four remaining aircraft are all in advanced stages of production and will be delivered to the NDMA in 2022. The five P-8As will replace the RNoAF current fleet of six P-3 Orions and two DA-20 Jet Falcons and will be operated by 333 Squadron at Evenes Air Station.

Norwegian companies Nammo, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Andoya Space and Berget currently have agreements with Boeing that are part of a tailored industrial cooperation plan related to Norway's acquisition of five P-8A aircraft. Boeing continues to work with the NDMA and Norwegian industry to expand that plan and support economic growth throughout Norway.

The delivery to Norway also marks the 142nd P-8 aircraft delivered to global customers, including the U.S. Navy, the Royal Australian Air Force, the Indian Navy and the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force. First deliveries to New Zealand, Korea and Germany will take place in 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively.

India receives another Neptune MMA

13 JULY 2021

by Gareth Jennings

India has received another Boeing P-8I Neptune maritime multimission aircraft (MMA) to add to the nine already delivered.

The tenth P-8I Neptune for the Indian Navy departs Boeing's production facility near Seattle, Washington. (Boeing)

The manufacturer announced on 13 July that the tenth P-8I was formally handed over to the Indian Navy from its Renton production facility near Seattle, Washington.

The P-8I is the Indian-specific variant of the P-8A Poseidon flown by the US Navy and international customers. The P-8I differs slightly from the P-8A in that it is equipped with an aft-facing radar (that operates independently of the forward-facing Raytheon AN/APY-10 surface search sensor), providing full-hemisphere coverage and an aerial target-tracking capability. A magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) system is also fitted in place of the Multistatic Active Coherent (MAC) capability to enable the detection of submerged submarines.

India became the first export customer for the P-8 when it signed for eight P-8Is in 2009 to replace its Russian-built Tupolev Tu‐142Ms that were acquired in 1988. Deliveries commenced in 2013, since when the fleet has surpassed 30,000 flight hours.

In 2016 India ordered a further four aircraft to take its total up to 12 (this latest delivery is the second aircraft from this follow-on batch), and earlier in 2021 was given approved by the US government to buy a further six. "This proposed sale of an additional six P-8I aircraft will allow the Indian Navy to expand its maritime surveillance aircraft capability for the next 30 years," the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said at the time of the approval in April.
