Je gaat over SOF ook echt niet meer lezen dan dat.

In de brief van de MLU stond gewoon een groot deel van de materiaaltechnische aanpassingen die er gedaan zouden worden om de kopters daar beter geschikt voor te maken. Hing een te hoog prijskaartje aan voor die tien jaar en dus is het blijkbaar geschrapt.

Lijkt mij ook niet genoeg om de Cougars voor SOF taken uit te rusten. De brief zwijgt er over, de begroting ook. Daarin staat alleen dat er SOF enablers komen. Beetje mager.

Goed nieuws !    eindelijk de MLU, die een paar jaar terug al gedaan had moeten worden.

Nu wachten op de brief met SOF aanpassingen ?

Dit lijkt me helaas niet de gewenste MLU en ombouw voor SOF... dat was meer dan 100 miljoen geweest.
Dat was dan denk ik ook wel in deze brief vermeld. Dit zijn vooral maatregelen om ze gecertificeerd te houden.

Dit product klinkt interessant. Ben benieuwd wat de concurrentie heeft.

Het zou wellicht handig zijn als duidelijk is wat er qua nieuwe systemen nog in de Cougar kan/mag worden geïnvesteerd.

Having being declared operational, Elbit Systems delivered BrightNiteTM systems for Puma330 helicopters of an Air Force of a NATO country. Users' feedback has been extremely positive, with pilots emphasizing the contribution of the system to Degraded Visibility Environment (DVE) flights and describing it as a "game changer" and a "breakthrough in pitch dark night flight".

Low flying, mission helicopters are vulnerable to threats such as difficult terrain, enemy fire and the intersection of utility wires in the flight path while sorties must often be carried out in DVE, adding to the already heavy workload and leaving flight crews to rely on NVGs to accomplish their mission. BrightNite system is designed to overcome visibility limitations and enable to safely and effectively fly mission helicopters in pitch dark nights and in DVE conditions including poor weather conditions, brownouts, whiteouts and sandstorms.

BrightNite transmits high-resolution video to the Helmet-Mounted Display (HMD), allowing pilots to fly in a head-up, eyes-out position. The system processes real-time panorama video, pre-loaded terrain and obstacle information enhanced by a 3D conformal and intuitive symbology. BrightNite utilizes unified location-based information culled from a wide Field Of View (FOV) to display crystal clear images, regardless of visibility conditions. BrightNite can present information to multiple pilots simultaneously on an intuitive multi-functional display.

Australia begins SOF helo transition from Black Hawk to MRH90

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is "utterly focused" on developing the special forces role of the NHIndustries NH90 (MRH90 in national service) transport and assault helicopter, according to a senior official.

Speaking at the IQPC International Military Helicopter conference held from 5–7 February in London, Brigadier General Jeremy King, acting head Helicopter Systems Division at the Australian Department of Defence (DoD) said the ADF had begun the process of cross-decking the special operations forces (SOF) role from the Sikorsky S-70A Black Hawk to the MRH90.

"The first two MRH90s were delivered to the special forces regiment on [1 February], at which time two Black Hawks were withdrawn. The focus now is utterly on developing the MRH90's counter-terrorist and offshore SOF capability," the general said, adding that the process of replacing the 20 Black Hawks should be complete by the end of November 2021, when the platform will have been phased out of ADF service.

The standing up of the MRH90's SOF capabilities is part of a wider enhancement of Australia's special operations helicopter forces. In September 2018 the DoD issued a request for information (RFI) for a small SOF helicopter that can be transported aboard Boeing C-17 Globemaster III strategic transport aircraft for rapid forward deployment. As noted by the DoD, the helicopter should be a commercial or military off-the-shelf design fitted with a simple but proven intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) equipment package.

Manufacturers that have already expressed an interest in the requirement to Jane's comprise Bell, which said it is to offer its UH-1Y Venom; Leonardo, which is offering its AW109; and NorthStar Aviation, which is offering its 407 Multi-Role Helicopter (MRH).

Misschien moeten we bij de Australiërs gaan kijken hoe het daar verloopt met de SOF NH90 optie?

Ik begreep dat er wat bijkwam. Voor mijn gevoel hebben we echt al heel veel geïnvesteerd in die zaken. Je moet de aankomende investeringen zo zien dat er ruimte komt voor zaken waar de schoen echt wringt. Je kunt zelf dan al veel invullen, ik heb persoonlijk geen goed beeld hoe hoog de heli nood is bv.

Dromen op het werk? Dat is niet de juiste instelling    Maar zo net voor het kerstverlof is het je vergeven.

Ik heb dingen gehoord over meer heli's en daar krijg ik kriebels van.

Dat kunnen positieve kriebels zijn of negatieve ? Als ik het zo lees zijn het de laatste en dan kan het gaan om NH90's als ik jou mening hier over goed ken ; TROEP.

Extra Heli capaciteit voor de KM zou mooi zijn

Voor de KM een 4 tal extra zou geweldig zijn, dan hebben we er weer 24 net zoals bij de Lynxen. Al zijn er wel meer nodig om alle plekken te vullen die we beschikbaar hebben bij de marine en als er uitgebreid mag worden bij de KM is er nog wel wat meer nodig dan het eerder genoemde aantal.
