Niet zo gek als je ziet wat ze aan o.a. F35 en Patriot hebben uitgegeven.

Als je het op die manier bekijkt is het logisch, maar het kan toch niet zo zijn dat ze haar marine gaat verwaarlozen in ruil voor betere land/lucht eenheden.
Men wil 32 F-35A's aanschaffen in Roemenië voor een bedrag van 6,5 miljard dollar, waarbij de eerste toestellen in 2032 beschikbaar moet zijn.

46 F-16's  + 32 F-35's dat is geen kleine luchtmacht voor een land zoals Roemenië.

Laten we ze een LCF aanbieden om de deal te sweeten. Maargoed, met Galati maakt Damen een goede kans, maar het geld is ook daar gewoon op. Denk grootste kans voor een occasion, en zo niet zouden de Turken ook nog wel goede zaken kunnen doen.

Ik vind het ook heel vreemd dat er nu geen geld meer blijkt te zijn voor dit project, ik ga me dan toch afvragen of het probleem wel bij Naval Group lag of dat het een fout geweest is vanuit Roemenië zelf. Misschien was dit project toch iets te hoog gegrepen, het waren 4 nieuwe korvetten + de modernisering van de 2 Type 22 fregatten die men al heeft.

Mogelijk dat Damen daar nog wel werk uit weet te slepen en dat lokaal kan uitvoeren.

Dit zou betekenen dat het contract nu naar de nummer 2 bieder zou gaan en dat was Damen Naval met de Sigma 10514. Maar Roemenië heeft besloten het project te schrappen, vervolg plannen zijn nog niet bekend.

NVL Group To Build 3 New SIGINT Ships For German Navy



German shipbuilder NVL Group (Naval Vessels Lürssen) today signed a contract with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the construction of three new SIGINT (signals intelligence) and reconnaissance ships for the German Navy. Officially designated as "fleet service ship", they will replace the three in-service Oste-class / Type 423 vessels.

The folks over at BAE Systems have come up with a fairly novel way to give any ship with some deck space Mark 41 vertical launch system (VLS)-like capability without having to make huge alterations to the guts of the ship, which in many cases wouldn't even be possible. Dubbed aptly the Adaptive Deck Launcher (ADL), the system provides four cells positioned at an angle that can accommodate the same all-up missile canisters used by standard Mark 41 vertical launch systems like those found on the U.S. Navy's cruisers and destroyers, as well as many allied surface combatants.

The system comes in tactical length, used for quad-packed RIM-162 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles, anti-submarine rockets, and shorter-ranged anti-ship and land-attack missiles, as well as strike-length that can accommodate anything a full-spec Mark 41 VLS can, including Tomahawk cruise missiles and the latest SM-2, SM-3, and SM-6 surface-to-air and ballistic missile defense missiles.

Clearly, there are tradeoffs with a launch system like this. First off, it takes up substantial deck space for just four cells (each one can hold four ESSMs). They are also angled, and if fixed in place, the missile may have to burn some of its fuel and energy to get pointed in the right direction after launch. But even with these limitations, the ADL offers a tremendous amount of flexibility and potential to whatever surface platform it is bolted on to.

For instance, this system could be added to 'Gator Navy' amphibious transport docks and dock landing ships, as well as the Navy's new Expeditionary Mobile Bases, and even some of our allies' most prominent vessels, giving them the ability to carry various missiles of their own, including standoff land-attack and anti-ship missiles and ESSMs for organic self-protection. This would allow them to conduct more independent operations and field small amounts of advanced weapons that are tailored to the mission at hand.

BAE Systems Awarded Next Generation Launcher Design Contract

BAE Systems was awarded a $37 million U.S. Department of Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium (DOTC) contract to design the Next Generation Evolved SeaSparrow Missile Launch System (NGELS).

The company will support the NATO SeaSparrow Program Office (NSPO) to design and deliver prototype deck launching systems to support the U.S. Navy and allied countries with the Evolved SeaSparrow Missile (ESSM) ship self-defense system.

NGELS is a deck-mounted, fixed-angle launcher that leverages BAE Systems' Adaptable Deck Launcher (ADL) concept to store and launch ESSMs from Mk 25 missile canisters, which are also produced by BAE Systems. Easily integrated into large deck platforms, NGELS will support the fielding of the latest and most highly-capable ESSM missile, the Block 2 variant, a multi-role surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missile capable of protecting aircraft carriers and other flat-decked ships against advanced air and surface threats. NGELS will use proven Mk 41 Vertical Launching System subsystems to deliver surface-to-air and surface-to-surface defense capabilities to aircraft carriers and amphibious ships in order to defeat missile threats.

Hoe gaan de Grieken om met hun steeds verder ouder wordende vloot van S-fregatten ?  De oudste schepen zijn 48 jaar oud en moeten nog doorvaren, maar hoelang ?

Misschien liggen hier voor NL nog kansen? of uitbreiding van de order voor het Franse NG ? of gaan de Grieken gebruikmaken van PECSO EPC korvetten ? of gaan de Grieken opnieuw voor 2de hands schepen ?

Ik zie ook in de 2de hands voor NL wel mogelijkheden en dan misschien nog een combinatie met nieuwe ASWF fregatten. Ja idd, dat moet dan ook vanuit de Politiek geregisseerd worden in combinatie met Damen
En 2de hands kan zijn eind 20-iger, begin 30-iger jaren : de M fregatten, zowel NL als BE
of onze LCF fregatten, planning is nu 2032 de eerste uit de vaart en de laatste in 2035.

Maar dan zouden de S fregatten nog 10 jaar door moeten varen !! 50+ jaar oud

Laten we dus eens kijken naar de leeftijd van de S (Kortenaer) klasse boten die nog in de vaart zijn:

- F462 ROL. Dit is de voormalige F807 Kortenaer van de Nederlandse Marine, het eerste schip van de gelijknamige klasse, met de start van de bouw op 8 april 1975, dus 48 jaar geleden. Het is in 1997 overgenomen door PN en heeft twintig jaar geleden de bekende beperkte modernisering ondergaan.
- F459 ADRIAS. Ex F808 Callenburgh, met bouwstart op 2 september 1975. Verworven door PN in 1992 en eveneens gemoderniseerd.
- F461 NAVARINO. Voormalige F809 Jan Hendrik Van Kinsbergen, met bouwstart 2 september 1975. Verworven door PN in 1992 en gemoderniseerd.
- F460 AEGEAN. Voormalige F810 Joost Banckert, met bouwstart op 25 februari 1976. Verworven door PN in 1992 en gemoderniseerd.
- F45O GRIEKENLAND. Begonnen met de bouw op 1 juli 1977, bedoeld als F812 Pieter Florisz, maar in 1980 door PN gekocht terwijl ze in het dok lagen. Gemoderniseerd.
- F451 LIMNOS. Begonnen met de bouw op 13 juni 1978, bedoeld als F813 Witte De With, maar in 1980 door PN gekocht terwijl ze in het dok lagen. Gemoderniseerd.
- F465 THEMISTOKLES. Dit is de voormalige F823 Philips Van Almonde, waarvan de bouw startte op 1 oktober 1977. Aangekocht door PN in 2003. Niet gemoderniseerd.
- F466 OVERWINNING ZEGEL. Ex-F824 Willem Bloys Van Treslong, bouwjaar 1 mei 1978. Verworven door PN in 2003. Niet gemoderniseerd.
- F464 KANARIE. Gebouwd op 16 november 1979, is ze ook het jongste schip in leeftijd van de klasse in dienst in de PN, aangezien de F463 BOUMBULINA, gebouwd op 21 januari 1981, met pensioen ging op 18 februari 2013. Ze is de voormalige - F825 Jan Van Brakel, en werd verworven in 2003, terwijl het niet gemoderniseerd is.
